GIRLS BASKETBALL: Watterson’s bucket gives Cougars win over Rams
Kayla Watterson hit the game-winning basket with two seconds left Monday to lift Coronado’s girls basketball team to a 43-41 win over visiting Rancho.
Karlie Thorn had 14 points for the Cougars, who led 30-23 after three quarters.
LaKissa Martin had 16 points and nine rebounds, and Maureen Macato added 12 points for the Rams.
Centennial 75, Cimarron-Memorial 49 — At Cimarron, Justice Ethridge scored 24 points as the Bulldogs topped the Spartans.
Jayden Eggleston and Karina Brandon each scored 15 points for Centennial, which led 41-22 at halftime.
Shauntel Efferson scored 18 points on six 3-pointers for Cimarron, which got 12 points from Niara Smith.
Arbor View 50, Desert Oasis 29 — At Arbor View, Ariona Gill had 14 points to lead the Aggies by the Diamondbacks.
Katrina Nordstrom scored nine points, and Janae Strode and Katie Wolfram each had eight points for Arbor View, which led 28-11 at halftime.
Mikala Kirby led Desert Oasis with 13 points, and teammate Ashlynn Sharp had 10 points.
Canyon Springs 50, Las Vegas 26 — At Canyon Springs, the Pioneers led 18-0 after one quarter and rolled to the win over the Wildcats.
Alexia Thrower had 20 points to lead Canyon Springs. Dre’una Edwards added nine points, and Alize Bell scored eight for the Pioneers.
Bianca Matlock led Las Vegas with seven points.
Foothill 67, Basic 41 — At Basic, Katey Roquemore scored 20 points as the Falcons overcame an early deficit to down the Wolves.
Taylor Turney scored 13 points, and Mikayla Yeakek added 12 points for Foothill, which trailed 11-6 after one quarter.
Basic’s Dana Deloney scored 17 points, and Jayla Brown had 14 points for the Wolves.
Liberty 71, Valley 28 — At Liberty, Paris Strawther had 12 points and 10 rebounds to help the Patriots beat the Vikings.
Kealy Brown added 12 points, and Aubre Fortner had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Liberty, which also got 10 points from Nancy Caballero.
Hannah Geberyesus had 10 points for Valley, which trailed 38-5 at the half.
Bonanza 51, Tech 24 — At Bonanza, Alyssa Powers had 21 points to lead the Bengals by the Roadrunners.
Alexis Harris added 12 points, and Brooklyn Savage scored nine points for Bonanza, which led 23-6 after the first quarter.
Lidia Woosen led Tech with 14 points.
Laughlin 51, Mohave Accelerated (Ariz.) 44 — At Laughlin, Brittany Schelper scored 20 points to help the Cougars hold off the Patriots.
Kayla Nelson added 19 points for Laughlin, which led 27-7 after one quarter and 47-26 entering the fourth quarter.
