ROUNDUP: Reece, Mojave girls breeze past Las Vegas in season opener

Ivionne Reece scored a game-high 14 points, and Mojave began the post-Chelsea Hopkins era with a 52-34 home victory over Las Vegas on Friday on the first night of the girls basketball season.
Shanae Ireland added 12 points and Jazzmine Robinson 10 points for the Rattlers, who led 30-18 at halftime. Mojave is finding players to pick up the scoring slack for Hopkins, who averaged 28.5 points per game last season and now plays at Duke.
Bri Johnson led Las Vegas with 11 points.
All other girls basketball games Friday were in the Tip-Off Classic at Centennial Hills YMCA.
Liberty 61, Shadow Ridge 56 — Phoebe Baker scored 23 points to lead Liberty past Shadow Ridge in pool play.
Daynice Cochran added 10 points for the Patriots. Elisha Hensey led the Mustangs with 28 points and Cheyana Slocum had 12.
Liberty 43, Pahrump Valley 38 — Amanda Delgado scored a game-high 16 points and Cochran had 10 as Liberty finished 2-0 in its pool.
Kristi Daffer led the Trojans with 11 points and Ashley Lindgren had 10.
Pahrump Valley 55, Shadow Ridge 29 — Casey Scheller scored 10 points as balanced Pahrump Valley routed the Mustangs. Hensey led Shadow Ridge with 10 points.
Green Valley 83, Eldorado 47 — The Gators’ Jazmine Jarvis (29 points) and Danielle Christenson (26) combined to outscore Eldorado.
Gianna Lafayette led the Sundevils with 18 points and Sabrina Evans scored 10.
Green Valley 72, Cimarron-Memorial 46 — Jarvis picked up where she left off in the Eldorado game, scoring 22 points as the Gators coasted.
Sarah Pickus added 15 points for Green Valley. Catherine Wyre led Cimarron with 28.
Cimarron-Memorial 57, Eldorado 55 — Wyre scored 15 points and Zerie Mae Baptista had nine to help the Spartans hold off Eldorado.
Evans led Eldorado with 16 points, and Princess Jervis supplied 11.
Legacy 46, Bishop Gorman JV 32 — Breanna Watkins scored 13 points and Kayla Murray 10 to lead the Longhorns to a first-round win over the Gaels’ junior varsity.
Foothill 61, Legacy 58 — Mercedes Starr scored 18 points and hit three free throws with 15 seconds remaining to help the Falcons rally past Legacy.
Foothill trailed 58-56 when Starr was fouled on a 3-point attempt. After Starr’s free throws, Foothill made two more to seal the win.
Alysse Thummel added 12 points for the Falcons. Watkins and Kindrea Poole had 14 each to lead Legacy.
Foothill 59, Bishop Gorman JV 33 — Starr had 14 points to lead four double-figure scorers as the Falcons coasted.
Chantelle Monga added 11 points, and Joscalin Feaster and Thummel had 10 each.
Bonanza 72, Canyon Springs 22 — Shirley Pitts outscored the Pioneers, supplying 23 points to lead Bonanza’s easy victory.
Alice Pitts and Christin Figgins added 12 points each for the Bengals.
Bonanza 70, St. George (Utah) 42 — Shirley Pitts scored 24 points and Figgins 21 as Bonanza coasted.
Canyon Springs 35, St. George (Utah) 27 — Kenosha Wright scored 10 points to propel the Pioneers.
