ROUNDUP: Western tops Clark in girls basketball
Michelle Simon scored 13 points Friday as Western’s girls basketball team collected its first win of the season in a 46-30 victory at Clark.
Melanie Russell added 11 points for the Warriors, who established the tempo early on the way to a 27-12 halftime lead.
Angelena Cook scored 10 points to lead the Chargers.
Bonanza 54, Sierra Vista 48 — At Bonanza, Shirley Pitts scored 24 points to lead the Bengals past the Lions.
Christin Figgins hit 10 of 12 free throws in the fourth quarter and finished with 21 points for Bonanza.
Jeanette Jackson scored 13 points to lead Sierra Vista.
Bishop Gorman 58, Desert Oasis 10 — At Gorman, Aaryn Ellenberg had 18 points as the Gaels routed the Diamondbacks.
Alexus Caulk had nine points for Desert Oasis, which trailed 16-0 after one quarter.
Pahrump Valley 49, Spring Valley 30 — At Spring Valley, Casey Scheller had 18 points and Kristi Daffer 15 to lead the Trojans over the Grizzlies.
Jessica Flores had 17 points and 10 rebounds for Spring Valley.
Las Vegas 37, Canyon Springs 23 — At Las Vegas, Bri Johnson led all scorers with 15 points, and the Wildcats allowed just seven second-half points.
Skotasia Thomas led the Pioneers with eight points.
Eldorado 38, Chaparral 34 — At Eldorado, Princess Jervis scored 11 points as the Sundevils edged the Cowboys.
Natriana Shorter scored 16 points and Desiree Pierce 10 for Chaparral.
Green Valley 42, Coronado 36 — At Coronado, Jasmine Jarvis scored 17 points to help the Gators rally for a victory over the Cougars.
Danielle Christenson added 14 points for Green Valley, which hit 11 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to take over.
Stacy Rapp and Cortney Whitaker each scored nine points to lead Coronado, which made only five of 16 free throws in the final quarter.
Boulder City 59, Faith Lutheran 46 — At Boulder City, Caiti Forrester had 29 points and eight rebounds to help the Eagles beat the Crusaders.
Karlee Koopman added nine points and 10 rebounds for Boulder City.
Kelsey McCourt led Faith Lutheran with 17 points. Kiah Mayo added 11 points.
Virgin Valley 45, Moapa Valley 42 — At Overton, Rachel Morris scored 15 points, and Virgin Valley overcame a 9 of 30 effort from the free-throw line to outlast the Pirates in double overtime.
Chelsi McConnell had 10 points for Moapa Valley. Brianne Olige added nine points and 15 rebounds.
Lincoln County 56, Needles 52 — At Panaca, the host Lynx made 8 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter to rally past the Mustangs in a battle between the top two teams in the Class 2A Southern League.
Melanie Florence hit five free throws in that stretch to key the victory.
Marissa Smerek led Lincoln County with 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Maicah LeBaron had 13 points and five steals and Mary Culverwell 11 points for the Lynx.
Alex Chandler scored 16 points for Needles, which got 12 from Danielle Ramos and 10 from Miranda Brackett.
West Wendover 69, Agassi Prep 25 — At West Wendover, Danika Sharp scored 33 points in just three quarters as the Wolverines blitzed the Stars.
Aracelli Flores added 10 points for West Wendover.
Tamiyka Clark led Agassi Prep with eight points.
Trinity 38, Indian Springs 19 — At Indian Springs, Andrea Martinez scored 13 points to lead the Thunder past the Thunderbirds.
Trinity built a 22-13 halftime lead and held Indian Springs to six second-half points.
Tina Traster led the Thunderbirds with nine points.
Pahranagat Valley 53, Mountain View 32 — At Alamo, Dakota Day had 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the Panthers past the Saints.
Halie Lewis and Mary Higbee each added nine points for Pahranagat Valley.
Ellie Markwardt led Mountain View with nine points.
