Outlook: The Panthers have made it pretty clear: anything short of a state title is a disappointment. They have won 11 of the last 13, and their smallest margin of victory last season was 44 points.

The Panthers return just one starter on each side of the ball, but one is Higbee, who threw 40 touchdown passes and ran in 15 more in a spectacular sophomore season.

The Panthers also have Thornton and Maxwell for two more years, meaning last year’s 12 wins might just be the start in the hunt to match their own national record of 104 consecutive wins for eight-man football.

“We will be young and inexperienced, but the expectation and goal is to compete for a state championship,” Hansen said.
