Layton Christian takes care of Agassi Prep

Layton Christian (Utah) scored three touchdowns in a four-minute span during the second quarter Friday to take control and defeat host Agassi Prep, 38-14.

With the scored tied 6-6 in the second quarter, quarterback Braxton Llewelyn led Layton on a 95-yard drive that ended with a 25-yard touchdown pass from Llewelyn to receiver Pedro Silva.

On the next drive Llewelyn ran for an 18-yard touchdown to give the Eagles (3-0) an 18-6 lead. The Stars fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Layton running back Christian Moffo immediately scored on 23-yard touchdown run to raise the score to 24-6.

Agassi Prep freshman quarterback Micah Gayman, who passed for 265 yards, found receiver Zeivaun Ned for a 23-yard touchdown just before halftime, and the Stars successful 2-point conversion cut the lead to 24-14 at halftime.

The Eagles quickly reestablished themselves on their first drive of the second half that ended with Moffo’s 39-yard touchdown run, his second of the game. Moffo led the Eagles with 143 yards rushing.

Gayman threw for two touchdowns in the game, both to Ned who led the Stars (0-1) with 137 receiving yards.
