Pirates fall to Fernley
Fernley scored 21 straight points in the fourth quarter and held on for a 28-27 home victory over Moapa Valley on Friday.
Dillon Gordon caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Kelan Weiss with 1:30 remaining, but Moapa Valley’s pass attempt on a 2-point conversion try fell incomplete.
Moapa Valley turned the ball over four times, including three fumbles.
Matt Newton led the Pirates with 162 yards rushing and two TDs and three receptions for 62 yards.
