Shadow Ridge football forfeits two games

Shadow Ridge High School’s football team forfeited nonleague victories over Western and Legacy after using an ineligible player, the Clark County School District announced in a statement Tuesday.

The Mustangs defeated Western 58-6 on Aug. 31 and won a 50-49 overtime thriller over Legacy on Friday, but their record dropped from 2-1 to 0-3 with the forfeits.

“An investigation by the school is taking place to ensure all appropriate actions have been taken, and that athletics can continue at Shadow Ridge High School without further interruption,” the statement said.

Shadow Ridge coach Frank Tousa declined to comment, saying he had been told by the school’s administration not to discuss the forfeits.

“Our administration said any communication has to go through the district communications office,” Tousa said.

Shadow Ridge athletic administrator Anita Romero declined comment, referring questions to the school district.

A CCSD spokesperson referred to the statement, which was less than 100 words and didn’t provide specifics regarding the unnamed player’s ineligibility.
