The Meadows rolls to 49-8 win over Laughlin

The Meadows scored on its first five possessions to roll to a home victory over Laughlin on Friday, 49-8.

Adam Martinez had three carries for 66 yards and two TDs, and Jack Berkley completed 7 of 10 passes for 129 yards and two scores to help The Meadows (3-1, 2-0 2A Southern) take a 35-0 lead at the half.

Berkley also had a 3-yard TD run.

Sam Mason caught a 34-yard TD pass, and Asheesh Chopra had a 16-yard TD catch for the Mustangs. Antonio Gutierrez scored on a 45-yard run, and Noah Klein added a 9-yard TD run.

The Mustangs took advantage of two turnovers to build a 28-0 first-quarter lead en route to the victory over the Cougars.

Laughlin (2-3, 0-2) had a difficult time creating offensive consistency as the Mustang defense created two turnovers and only allowed three Cougar first downs in the first half.

The Cougars’ touchdown came on a 25-yard pass from Andrew Braaksma to Diego Trujillo with 4:14 to play.
