Kaui’s 68 leads Gators to third after first day of Phoenix tourney
Alex Kaui fired a 4-under-par 68 on Friday to help Green Valley’s girls golf team to third place after the opening round of the Antigua National High School Invitational at Rancho El Dorado in Phoenix.
Hamilton (Ariz.) leads the 18-team field with a first-round score of 283. Punahou (Hawaii) is second at 288, followed by the Gators at 297. Faith Lutheran is tied for ninth with Notre Dame (Ariz.) at 333.
Kaui and Marissa Dodd of Allen (Texas) are tied for second individually, one stroke behind Hamilton’s Younjin Kim.
Jenny Hahn carded a 71 for the Gators and is in a six-way tie for ninth place.
Annie Freman led the Crusaders with a 70, good for a share of sixth place.
The tournament concludes Saturday.
