3A ALL-LEAGUE: Virgin Valley dominates volleyball, boys soccer honors
Virgin Valley grabbed the most Class 3A Southern League girls volleyball honors, taking the top two awards and landing four players on all-league teams.
Junior middle blocker Rachel Morris was named Most Valuable Player for leading the Bulldogs (14-15) to a 4-0 league record and the semifinals of the state tournament. Lori Barnum took Coach of the Year.
Virgin Valley middle blocker Madison Bowler and outside hitter Annie Biasi were named to the first team, and libero Sadie Leavitt and utility player Nikki Hafen made the second team.
BOYS SOCCER — Virgin Valley (15-2-2, 7-0-1) was rewarded for not losing a league match by taking the top two awards and placing six players on all-league teams.
Senior midfielder Joel Medina was named MVP and Bob Snell was voted Coach of the Year.
The Bulldogs also had forward Will Lara, midfielder Pedro Carminatti and defender Kyle Santos named to the first team. Forward Adam Berntsson, defender Tanner Tichenor and utility player Miguel Martinez received second-team honors.
The Meadows’ Toby Warburton was named Offensive Player of the Year, and Boulder City’s Jon Lyon took Defensive Player of the Year.
GIRLS SOCCER — White Pine’s Teal Collins was named MVP. Coach of the Year went to Boulder City’s Duncan Stark.
Virgin Valley’s Kiera Ogden was named Offensive Player of the Year, and Boulder City’s Jen King took Defensive Player of the Year.
