BOYS SOCCER: Miranda, Cowboys clinch Sunrise League title

Omar Miranda had two goals and two assists Thursday as Chaparral’s boys soccer team clinched the Division I-A Sunrise League title with a 5-0 home win over Desert Pines.

Jose Morales added two goals and an assist, and Aldo Skewes had a goal and an assist for the Cowboys, who won their first league title since 2005.

Goalkeeper Juan Romero made three saves to preserve the shutout.

Sunrise Mountain 2, Tech 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Hector Garibay scored on an assist from Jose Arreola in the 75th minute to lift the Miners over the Roadrunners.

Christian Cerritteno scored on a free kick for Sunrise Mountain to tie the game early in the second half.

Francisco Garcia scored Tech’s goal.

Del Sol 2, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mesquite, Diego Nieves and Ruben Ortiz each scored a goal as the Dragons blanked the Bulldogs.

Brayan Talavera had eight saves to record the shutout.

Coronado 4, Eldorado 1 — At Coronado, Steven Kale scored two goals to lead the Cougars past the Sundevils.

Preston Judd added a goal and an assist, and Lohn Lynam scored once for Coronado.

Eddie Mercado scored for Eldorado.

Bishop Gorman 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Brandon Malek, Justin Rasmussen and Jeffrey Wright each scored a goal to lead the Gaels by the Longhorns.

Green Valley 11, Basic 0 — At Green Valley, Kevin Yanez had three goals and an assist, and Antonio Trama supplied two goals and an assist as the Gators routed the Wolves.

Ricardo Nunez and Alessandro Sanchez each added two goals, and Leo Perez contributed a goal and an assist for Green Valley, which also got a goal from Braydon Lopez.

Salvatore Hicks recorded the shutout.

Foothill 3, Rancho 2 — At Rancho, the Falcons scored two second-half goals to edge the Rams.

Parker Erickson and Reagan Mugume each had a goal for Foothill.

Palo Verde 1, Durango 0 — At Palo Verde, Presten Manthey scored with four minutes to play as the Panthers edged the Trailblazers.

Nishesh Yadav had seven saves in the shutout.

Boulder City 3, Moapa Valley 0 — At Overton, Barrett Cowdrey recorded the shutout as the Eagles beat the Pirates.
