BOYS SOCCER: Penalty kick gives Desert Pines win over Bishop Gorman
Joel Sanchez scored two goals, including the winner on a penalty kick, as the Desert Pines boys soccer team edged visiting Bishop Gorman 2-1 on Wednesday.
Eduardo Velazquez assisted on Sanchez’s first goal.
Justin Rasmussen scored on a penalty kick for Gorman.
Green Valley 3, Canyon Springs 1 — At Green Valley, Pablo Pena scored two first-half goals as the Gators held off the Pioneers.
Estevan Uribe had a goal and an assist, and teammate Byron Andrade added two assists for Green Valley.
Eduardo Quintero-Rodriguez scored for Canyon Springs.
Bonanza 2, Spring Valley 1 — At Bonanza, Juan Rodriguez scored twice, including the go-ahead goal midway through the second half, to lift the Bengals over the Grizzlies.
Ethan Orme scored in the first half for Spring Valley.
Boulder City 2, Pahrump Valley 2 — At Boulder City, Benjamin Missel was awarded a free kick as time expired for the Eagles, and he converted to force a draw against the Trojans.
Alex Krausman also scored for Boulder City.
Durango 5, Clark 1 — At Durango, Alfredo Robles-Rodriguez and Oscar Rodriguez each had two goals, and the Trailblazers did all their scoring in the second half to beat the Chargers.
Christopher Hernandez scored Durango’s other goal, and Marcos Delgado finished with three assists for the Trailblazers.
The game was scoreless at halftime.
Joel Makwashi scored in the final minute for Clark to break the shutout.
Mojave 2, Valley 1 — At Valley, Chris Reyes and Gabriel Sanchez-Gonzalez scored in the Rattlers’ victory over the Vikings.
Valley scored on an own goal by Mojave.
Sierra Vista 5, Desert Oasis 0 — At Sierra Vista, Zekarias Kassaye netted two goals, and Donovan McCree made five saves to help the Mountain Lions shut out the Diamondbacks.
Tanner Erwin added a goal and an assist for Sierra Vista. Jesus Gonzalez and Daniel Perez had the Mountain Lions’ other goals.
Greg Billingsley had an assist for Sierra Vista.
Tech 4, Silverado 0 — At Tech, Eduardo Gomez had a hat trick as the Roadrunners blanked the Skyhawks.
Andres Santana supplied a goal and an assist for Tech. Alex Mejia, Joel Velazquez and Armando Villanueva each added an assist for the Roadrunners.
