BOYS SOCCER: Vazquez, Jaguars hand Miners first loss

Angel Vazquez scored on a 40-yard shot midway through the first half to give Desert Pines’ boys soccer team a 1-0 victory over Sunrise Mountain on Monday.

Josafat Trinidad had six saves to earn the shutout for the Jaguars, who handed Sunrise Mountain its first loss.

Jimmy Rodriguez assisted on Vazquez’s goal.

Green Valley 1, Coronado 0 — At Green Valley, goalkeeper Bryant Peralta stopped eight shots on goal as the Gators edged the Cougars.

Maliq Cooper scored off an assist from Connor Malone for Green Valley.

Foothill 2, Eldorado 1 — At Foothill, Michael Carnahan scored early in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and give the Falcons the win over the Sundevils.

Jackson Dietrich also scored for Foothill.

Israel Hernandez had Eldorado’s goal.

Chaparral 2, Tech 0 — At Chaparral, Ivan Jaquez had a goal and an assist to lead the Cowboys over the Roadrunners.

Jose Morales also scored for Chaparral, and Gerardo Skewes had four saves to record the shutout.

Bishop Gorman 1, Palo Verde 1 — At Palo Verde, Gorman’s Matt Fike scored a second-half goal to give the Gaels a tie with the Panthers.

Presten Manthey scored for Palo Verde.

Del Sol 2, Boulder City 1 — At Boulder City, Diego Flores-Diaz and Erik Serrano scored as the Dragons held off the Eagles.

Justin Fox scored for Boulder City, which had a chance to tie the game with five minutes remaining, but a missed penalty kick.

Shadow Ridge 5, Durango 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Matthew Camacho had a goal and an assist as the Mustangs defeated the Trailblazers.

Tyler Lavoie, Jack Guynn, Jordan Tschogl and Everett Heredia each added a goal for Shadow Ridge.

Nathan Kramer and Nik Bugtrup combined on the shutout.

Rancho 5, Basic 0 — At Rancho, Francisco Ramirez scored twice as the Rams beat the Wolves.

Isias Magallon, Robert Mina-Olivera and Jose Paricio-Monroy added goals for Rancho.

Virgin Valley 9, Moapa Valley 0 — At Moapa Valley, Gabe Medina had three goals and two assists as the Bulldogs routed the Pirates.

Moises Medina added two goals and an assist, and Efren Rodriguez scored two goals for Virgin Valley. Ulises Flores had a goal and had two assists, and Emmanuel Navarro scored a goal for the Bulldogs.

Goalkeeper Domingo Ramirez stopped five shots to earn the shutout.
