Roundup: Faith Lutheran stuns Western to advance to championship game

Gabriel Miranda scored on a penalty kick in the final minute for Faith Lutheran’s boys soccer team Saturday to force a draw against Western. The Crusaders won 4-3 in penalty kicks at Green Valley to advance to the finals of the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

The Crusaders will play Palo Verde at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Green Valley in the championship game.

Julio Flores scored Western’s goal with an assist from Juan Arredondo-Alvarez.

Palo Verde 1, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Green Valley, Teagan Jarvis scored 20 minutes into the game to lift the Panthers over the Spartans in a semifinal of the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Presten Manthey assisted on Teagan’s goal, and Hudson Huckfeldt got the shutout.

Bishop Gorman 1, Coronado 0 — At Reno, the Gaels defeated the Cougars with a second-half goal in the title game of the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Coronado 3, North Valleys 0 — At Reno, John Lynam had a goal and an assist in the Cougars’ victory over the Panthers in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Lincoln Aquino and Justin Irungaray each scored for Coronado.

Bradley Bolduc made three saves in Coronado’s shutout.

Coronado 4, Bishop Manogue 0 — At Reno, John Lyman scored twice to power the Cougars over the Miners in the Howell Memorial Tournament.

Lincoln Aquino had a goal and an assist for the Cougars, and Noah Velgos had a goal.

Coronado’s Bradley Bolduc made two saves to record the shutout.

Palo Verde 6, Rancho 0 — At Green Valley, Bryan Montoya had two goals and an assist to lead the Panthers over the Rams in the quarterfinals of the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Tanne Stevenson had a goal and two assists for the Panthers, and Presten Manthey, Zechariah Ruffer and Antonio Gomez each scored.

Hudson Huckfeldt had a two-save shutout for the Panthers.

Western 2, Liberty 1 — At Green Valley, Jose Muniz and Hector Romero each scored to lift the Warriors over the Patriots in the quarterfinals of the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Maximillian Patton scored for the Patriots.

Palo Verde 3, Tech 0 — At Green Valley, the Panthers scored three times in the second half to run away from the Roadrunners in the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Zechariah Ruffer, Michael Vogel and Antonio Gomez scored for the Panthers, and Hudson Huckfeldt had a three-save shutout.

Liberty 3, Show Low (Ariz.) 0 — At Green Valley, Ben Stang scored twice and Jorge Rodriguez had a shutout as the Patriots defeated the Cougars in the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Hayden Prasad had a goal and an assist for the Patriots.

Arbor View 2, Durango 2 — At Green Valley, the Trailblazers scored twice in the second half to force a draw with the Aggies in the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Tyson Tesfamariam and Marcos Delgado each had a goal and an assist for the Trailblazers.

Nicklaus Dongmann and Marcos Martinez had the goals for the Aggies.

Las Vegas 3, Foothill 1 — At Green Valley, Sergio Aguayo had two goals and an assist to power the Wildcats over the Falcons in the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Alejandro Rivera had the other goal for the Wildcats.

Zach Sines scored Foothill’s goal.

Cimarron-Memorial 3, Chaparral 0 — At Green Valley, the Spartans scored three times in the first half to take down the Cowboys in the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Gustavo Garcia-Reyes, George Balcazar and Diego Zacarias scored for the Spartans, and Miguel Rubio had a pair of assists.

Dylan Crosby-Moghadam made two saves in Cimarron’s shutout.

Green Valley 5, Spring Creek 0 — At Green Valley, Estevan Uribe had a pair of goals to help the Gators beat the Spartans in the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Dominick Mesa had a goal and two assists for the Gators, Vincent Vitellaro had a goal and an assist, and Zachary Hanson had a goal.

Deven Scott had two saves to preserve the shutout for Green Valley.

Faith Lutheran 9, Pahrump Valley 0 —At Green Valley, Derek Heinish scpred twice and the Crusaders exploded for six first-half goals to rout the Trojans.

Andrew Thompson, Elijah Bethard, Abigay Gomez, Ari Sirvent, Terrence Thibedi, Nicholas Gutierrez and Hayden Hillegass all scored for the Crusaders.

Western 4, Clark 0 — At Green Valley, Juan Estrada recorded a hat trick to power the Warriors over the Chargers in the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Julio Flores also had a goal for the Warriors, and Francisco Corona recorded the shutout.

Centennial 1, Silverado 0 — At Green Valley, Jordan Hardy scored the game’s lone goal as the Bulldogs edged the Skyhawks in the Southern Nevada Kick-off Classic.

Rancho 2, Sierra Vista 0 — At Green Valley, the Rams scored in each half to defeat the Mountain Lions.
