SOCCER: Raygoza, Centennial boys end Tech’s 25-match win streak
Jimmy Raygoza’s goal with five minutes left in the match Saturday lifted Centennial’s boys soccer team to a 2-1 win over Tech in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic at Liberty.
Mason Panos also scored for the Bulldogs, who snapped the Roadrunners’ 25-match winning streak.
Julio Vargas scored for Tech, which lost for the first time since Nov. 3, 2011.
Centennial plays Shadow Ridge in a semifinal at 10 a.m. Monday. Tech plays Green Valley in the other semifinal, also at 10.
Centennial 4, Sierra Vista 0 — At Liberty, Eric Sanchez and Phillip Hopper each had a goal and an assist to help the Bulldogs breeze by the Mountain Lions.
Manny Lopez and Austin Brooks also scored for Centennial.
Tanner Polley and Allan Vasquez combined on the shutout.
Tech 3, Foothill 1 — At Liberty, Salvador Garcia scored the go-ahead goal with 15 minutes left in the second half as the Roadrunners rallied from 1-0 halftime deficit to top the Falcons in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.
Vargas scored twice for Tech.
Robby Cowan had Foothill’s goal.
Foothill 7, Sierra Vista 1 — At Liberty, Cowan had three goals, and Dakota Maack scored twice to help the Falcons rout the Mountain Lions.
Mason Reid added a goal and two assists, and Jesse Thomas also scored for Foothill.
Srdjan Cvijetic had Sierra Vista’s goal.
Green Valley 2, Arbor View 0 — At Liberty, Roberto Rodriguez converted a penalty kick, and Kade Kochevar added a goal to lead the Gators by the Aggies in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.
Green Valley’s Bryant Peralta made three saves to earn the shutout.
Green Valley 3, Clark 0 — At Liberty, the Gators scored three first-half goals to down the Chargers in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.
Kochevar, Breno Rocha and Daniel Mojica each had a goal for Green Valley.
Rodriguez added two assists, and Peralta had four saves in the shutout.
Liberty 3, Clark 2 — At Liberty, Danny Musovski scored three times to lead the Patriots over the Chargers in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.
Adam Musovski had an assist for Liberty.
Legacy 1, Las Vegas 1 — At Liberty, the Longhorns and Wildcats played to a tie in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.
Jose Ramirez scored on an assist from Mario Adams to salvage a tie for Legacy.
Shadow Ridge 2, Legacy 1 — At Liberty, the Mustangs downed the Longhorns in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.
Luka Skrinjaric scored Legacy’s goal.
Durango 3, Shadow Ridge 2 — At Liberty, Robert Ibarra scored with four minutes to play as the Trailblazers edged the Mustangs in the Southern Nevada Kick-Off Classic.
Durango trailed 2-0 at the half, but goals by Paris Estrada and Ty Mouri tied the game.
Bishop Gorman boys, girls win Mesquite Cup
At Mesquite, Bishop Gorman swept the title matches in the Mesquite Cup tournament.
The Gaels were 2-0 winners over Coronado in the boys championship match.
On the girls side, Gorman was a 7-1 winner over Foothill in the title tilt.
