GIRLS SOCCER: Barnum’s goal gives Virgin Valley win over Tech
Abbie Barnum scored on an assist from Kari Wakefield in the 52nd minute Tuesday to lift Virgin Valley’s girls soccer team to a 1-0 home win over Tech.
Goalkeeper Spencer Green made eight saves to get the shutout for the Bulldogs.
Foothill 2, Green Valley 0 — At Green Valley, goalkeeper Darrien Sclafani had five saves to lead the Falcons to a shutout win over the Gators.
Katherine Ballou scored the game’s first goal in the 55th minute off an assist from Hannah Harrison, and Myriah Epino scored six minutes later on an assist from Ballou.
Desert Pines 1, Boulder City 0 — At Boulder City, Jennifer Ramirez scored with five minutes remaining in the first half, and goalkeeper Maribel Mejia made the goal stand as the Jaguars blanked the Eagles.
Lizuly Mireles assisted on Ramirez’s goal.
Palo Verde 4, Shadow Ridge 2 — At Palo Verde, Macee Barlow had three goals and an assist to lead the Panthers past the Mustangs.
Jadyn Nogues added a goal and two assists for Palo Verde.
Madison Garvin and Hunter Wyett each scored a goal for Shadow Ridge.
Eldorado 3, Rancho 2 — At Rancho, Brianna Duran, Aracely Mendoza and Jaqueline Hernandez each scored a goal as the Rams edged the Sundevils.
Faith White and Saippress Jones each scored second-half goals for Rancho.
Moapa Valley 6, Chaparral 1 — At Overton, Alexia Schraft had two goals and an assist, and Ashlyn Western added two goals to lead the Pirates by the Cowboys.
Linnea Jonasson and Tapanga Durham also scored for Moapa Valley.
Yarely Sandoval scored Chaparral’s goal.
Sunrise Mountain 6, Del Sol 0 — At Sunrise Mountain, Brisa Pena-Martinez had two goals and two assists to power the Miners by the Dragons.
Miriam Mozqueda, Briana Torres, Miriam Galvez and Leslie Arellanos also scored for Sunrise Mountain, which led 1-0 at halftime.
Christina Lark earned the shutout for the Miners.
Coronado 6, Basic 1 — At Coronado, Olivia Meza and Carli Young each had two goals and an assist to lead the Cougars past the Wolves.
Ashley Comandatore and Trinity Rhoades also scored for Coronado.
Katelyn Moxley had two assists for the Cougars.
Darby Parise scored for Basic.
Legacy 11, Durango 1 — At Legacy, Gabriella Lancaster and Isabella Skrinjaric each had a goal and an assist to help the Longhorns rout the Trailblazers.
Gianna Urquidez, Jessica Luna, Avianna Urquidez and Carolyn Acosta each added a goal and an assist for Legacy, which led 6-0 at the half.
Diana Perea, Odaris Elias and Brittani Snook also scored for Legacy.
Elise Boldt had Durango’s goal.
