GIRLS SOCCER: Early scores help Cougars down Mountain Lions
Michaela Morris and Alexis Schuck each scored a first-half goal Wednesday to help Coronado’s girls soccer team hold off visiting Sierra Vista, 2-0.
Carli Young assisted on both goals for the Cougars, and goalkeeper Erin Heenan had three saves in the shutout.
Palo Verde 2, Centennial 0 — At Centennial, Jadyn Nogues and Serenity Grim each had a goal to help the Panthers top the Bulldogs.
Jordan Goyeau made three saves en route to the shutout.
Desert Pines 3, Boulder City 2 — At Boulder City, Genesis Martinez had two goals and an assist, including the game-winning goal that broke a 2-2 tie with 10 minutes left, as the Jaguars nipped the Eagles.
Selena Rodriguez added a goal for Desert Pines, which led 2-0 at the half.
McKenzie Pluta and Coral Leon-Wilson scored for Boulder City.
Virgin Valley 5, Chaparral 2 — At Chaparral, Abbie Barnum scored all five of her team’s goals as the Bulldogs downed the Cowboys.
Jasmine Correa had two assists for Virgin Valley.
Fatima Fernandez and Rosa Martinez each had a goal and an assist for Chaparral.
Faith Lutheran 4, Cheyenne 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Dani Tharaldson had a goal and two assists as the Crusaders blanked the Desert Shields.
Charlotte Vancura supplied a goal and an assist for Faith Lutheran. Brenna Rohnkohl and Kristi Chinn each added a goal for the Crusaders.
Goalkeeper Beka Lescenski made three saves in the shutout.
Tech 9, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Tech, Abrana Wielgosiak scored four goals, and Alex Guzman added two goals and two assists as the Roadrunners blitzed the Miners.
Monica Figerora had a goal and three assists, and Clarisa Szluha supplied a goal and an assist for Tech, which led 7-0 at halftime.
Jackie Bernal added a goal, and Elena Duenas notched the shutout for the Roadrunners.
Pahrump Valley 12, Mojave 0 — At Pahrump, Sydney Sladek scored seven goals as the Trojans routed the Rattlers.
Gabriella Vasquez and Alyssa Turner each scored twice, and Maddie Pereira added a goal for Pahrump, which scored nine second-half goals.
