GIRLS SOCCER: Nogues converts free kick, helps Panthers move into tie for first
Jadyn Nogues converted a 25-yard free kick midway through the first half Monday as Palo Verde’s girls soccer team downed visiting Bishop Gorman, 1-0.
The Panthers moved into a tie with the Gaels for first place in the Southwest League with one match remaining.
Savannah Ornelas made four saves to earn the shutout for Palo Verde.
Coronado 3, Green Valley 0 — At Green Valley, Taylor Kornieck scored twice as the Cougars clinched the Southeast League title by blanking the Gators.
Carli Young added a goal for Coronado.
Shannon Heenan made four saves to earn the shutout.
Virgin Valley 3, Moapa Valley 0 — At Overton, Karla Correa had two goals and an assist as the Bulldogs clinched the Sunrise League title by blanking the Pirates.
Abbie Barnum added a goal and an assist for Virgin Valley.
Spencer Green made five saves en route to the shutout.
Desert Pines 1, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Desert Pines, Maria Gaeta scored on an assist from Lizuly Mireles in the first half, and the Jaguars held on to defeat the Miners.
Martha Gandarilla recorded the shutout for Desert Pines.
Rancho 3, Basic 2 — At Rancho, Saippress Jones’ goal with seven minutes left broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Rams over the Wolves.
Abigail Pulido and Tania Aguilar also scored for Rancho.
Arlene Acosta and Sasha Bodison scored for Basic.
Tech 6, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, Melissa Lopez and Veronica Gonzales each scored twice as the Roadrunners pulled away from the Cowboys.
Valerie Webb and Alysia Mestas each added a goal for Tech.
Estephania Perez was in goal for the shutout.
Boulder City 6, Del Sol 0 — At Boulder City, Jordyn Trobiana scored three goals as the Eagles blanked the Dragons.
Jeanne Carmell and Lauren Mullins each added a goal and an assist, and Rebecca Smith scored for Boulder City.
Oshauna Remy, Carmell, Samantha Lawrence and Rebecca Smith combined on the shutout.
Foothill 7, Eldorado 0 — At Foothill, Katherine Ballou scored three goals as the Falcons routed the Sundevils.
Rae Burrell had a goal and an assist, and Jessica Carnahan, Paityn Toohey and Talia Sclafani each added a goal from Foothill, which got two assists from Aqui Williams.
Natalie Williams and Darrien Sclafani combined on the shutout.
Shadow Ridge 9, Durango 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Brianna Haworth had two goals and two assists as the Mustangs routed the Trailblazers.
Samantha Villa scored twice, and Madison Garvin had a goal and an assist for Shadow Ridge, which also got goals from Jessica Beck, Jenna Gallagher, Stephanie Nava and Taylore Simmons.
Gallagher registered the shutout for the Mustangs.
