GIRLS SOCCER: Panthers top Cougars for Las Vegas Kick-Off title
Hannah Gunderson scored a first-half goal, and Jadyn Nogues scored in the second half Tuesday to help Palo Verde’s girls soccer team defeat Coronado, 2-0, in the championship match of the Las Vegas Kick-Off at Faith Lutheran.
Gunderson knocked in Macee Barlow’s cross about 16 minutes into the match to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. Nogues doubled the lead with a 25-yard blast in the second half.
Jordan Goyeau made seven saves to earn the shutout for Palo Verde.
Arbor View 1, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Green Valley, Kylee Wallace made three saves en route to the shutout and assisted on the only goal of the match as the Aggies nipped the Crusaders in the third-place match of the Las Vegas Kick-Off.
Wallace’s long boot set up Lexi Epley for a first-half goal for Arbor View.
Green Valley 4, Foothill 0 — At Green Valley, the Gators cruised past the Falcons in the Las Vegas Kick-Off.
Caitlyn Chamberlin, Carli Perkins, Alexis Kirson and Kayla Anderson scored goals for Green Valley. Teammates Kiyana Lopez and Cassandra Palor combined to earn the shutout.
Centennial 2, Las Vegas 1 — At Faith Lutheran, the Bulldogs scored a second-half goal to nip the Wildcats in the Las Vegas Kick-Off.
Desert Oasis 3, Liberty 3 — At Liberty, Kali Schwenke had two goals and an assist to help the Diamondbacks rally from a 3-1 halftime deficit to tie the Patriots.
Cassidy Motis also scored for Desert Oasis.
Hannah Johnson scored twice, and Alexis Mosqueda had a goal and an assist.
Eldorado 3, Tech 3 — At Tech, Kimberly Olivares scored two goals to help the Sundevils tie the Roadrunners
Tianna Slocum added a goal for Eldorado.
Adriana Guzman scored two goals to lead Tech, and teammate Abrana Wielgosiak had a goal and an assist.
Sierra Vista 5, Silverado 1 — At Sierra Vista, Calista Reyes had four goals and an assist as the Mountain Lions downed the Skyhawks.
Courtney Shay added a goal and an assist for Sierra Vista.
Danielle Parven scored for Silverado.
Cheyenne 5, Western 1 — At Western, Lesly Rodriguez scored twice to help the Desert Shields pull away from the Warriors.
Josie Lourenco, Jocelyn Pena and Girly Tambeagbor also scored for Cheyenne.
Guadalupe Herrera scored for Western.
Cimarron-Memorial 6, Spring Valley 3 — At Cimarron, Jaymee Luke scored three goals to lead the Spartans by the Grizzlies.
Jazmin Centeno added two goals, and Annalise Esparza also scored for Cimarron.
Samantha Meyers scored twice, and Daniela Rojas added a goal for Spring Valley.
Desert Pines 2, Virgin Valley 0 — At Mesquite, Genessis Martinez and Mariyah Espinoza each scored a first-half goal to help the Jaguars top the Bulldogs.
Martha Gandarilla had six saves en route to the shutout for Desert Pines.
Clark 6, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, Stephanie Chavez and Ariana Reyes each had a goal and an assist to lead the Chargers past the Rattlers.
Darian Gambetta, Alyanna Harina, Eyker Millan and Maggie Mora also scored goals for Clark.
Maria Zuniga and Carolina Soto combined on the shutout for the Chargers,
Chaparral 7, Boulder City 2 — At Boulder City, Rosa Martinez had five goals and an assist as the Cowboys overwhelmed the Eagles.
Stephanie Torres notched a goal and an assist, and Aliece Todd also scored for Chaparral, which led 4-0 at halftime.
Jana Williams and Jeanne Carmell scored for Boulder City.
Moapa Valley 3, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Overton, Tylee Evans scored twice to help the Pirates top the Miners.
Mary Sheldon added a goal for Moapa Valley.
Miriam Galvez scored for Sunrise Mountain.
Pahrump Valley 14, Adelson School 0 — At Pahrump, Sydney Sladek had five goals and six assists, and Kristin Young added two goals and four assists as the Trojans routed the Lions in a match that was stopped eight minutes into the second half.
Maddy Periera scored twice, and Alexis Smith, Brittany Klenczar, Paige Chaffee, Kiaya Nauck and Winter Young all notched a goal for Pahrump.
Nauck earned the shutout.
Bonanza 3, Basic 1 — At Basic, the Bengals scored three second-half goals to rally past the Wolves.
