ROUNDUP: Ramirez’s goal lifts Western to first win

Maria Ramirez scored a first-half goal off an assist from her sister Carmen to help Western’s girls soccer team to its first win of the year Thursday, a 1-0 home victory over Sierra Vista.

Denise Gonzalez made four saves for the Warriors, who improved to 1-6-3, 1-5-2 in the Southwest League.

Bonanza 1, Spring Valley 1 — At Spring Valley, Brittany Tucker scored with three minutes remaining to lift the Bengals into a tie.
Biza Parker scored earlier in the second half for the Grizzlies.

Eldorado 1, Las Vegas 0 — At Las Vegas, Claire Wixom finished off a three-way passing play with 10 minutes remaining for the only goal of the match as the Sundevils nipped the Wildcats.

Danae Upshaw and Katie Konst set up Wixom for the goal.

Chynna Hartman earned the shutout for Eldorado.

Desert Pines 1, Canyon Springs 0 — At Desert Pines, Vanessa Gomez scored in the first half for all the offense the Jaguars needed.
Desert Pines goalkeeper Elvia Castro had six saves for the shutout.

Rancho 6, Valley 1— At Rancho, Jahmela Muhammad had three goals and an assist to help the Rams bolt to a 5-0 halftime lead and down the Vikings.

Lucinda Luedanos also had a goal and an assist for Rancho. Megan Aoyama and Cindy Hernandez each scored one goal for the Rams.

Natalie DeLeon scored the lone goal for Valley.
