2A STATE: Moore leads Bobcats past Lynx

Bailey Moore tossed a complete game with 11 strikeouts to lead White Pine’s softball team to a 4-1 victory over Lincoln County in the first round of the Class 2A state tournament Thursday at Lovelock.

Maa Kingston was 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Kylie Britton went 2-for-3 with a run for White Pine, which scored two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings after falling behind 1-0 in the fourth.

The Bobcats (22-10) advanced to meet Yerington (25-3-1) at 2 p.m. Friday at Lovelock.

Kaylee Teel was 2-for-3 with a triple to lead Lincoln County, and Jaycee Wadsworth went 2-for-3. K.C. McCrosky struck out nine batters.

Lincoln County (25-5) faces rival Needles (18-11) in an elimination game at noon Friday at Lovelock.

Yerington 5, Needles 0 — At Lovelock, the Lions opened the tournament with a shutout of the Mustangs.
