DIVISION I-A SOFTBALL: Savoy, Lesniak power Cowboys past Crusaders
Tichina Savoy and Lauren Lesniak each hit a home run Tuesday to help Chaparral’s softball team to a 3-0 win at Faith Lutheran in a Division I-A Southern Region winners’ bracket semifinal.
Lesniak was 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice for the Cowboys (20-12-1), who will face Boulder City (27-7) in the winners’ final at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Nicole Lesniak spun a six-hitter and struck out 11 for Chaparral.
Stacie Graham tossed a six-hitter and fanned eight for Faith Lutheran, which will face Tech (16-16) in an elimination game at 3 p.m. at Faith Lutheran.
Boulder City 11, Cheyenne 1 — At Boulder City, Jessica Holling went 3-for-4 with a home run and a double, and Charlene Masterson was 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs as the Eagles routed the Desert Shields (19-13-1) in six innings.
Kasey Ochoa went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for Boulder City.
Mikaela Brown fired a four-hitter for the Eagles.
Tech 16, Mojave 2 — At Tech, Kimmie Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and a double, and Ashley Ramsey had four RBIs as the Roadrunners eliminated the Rattlers (8-13) in five innings.
Sabrina Sawyer was 3-for-3 with a double, and Emmalyne Laymon went 2-for-2 for Tech.
Ashley Persico hit a two-run double for Mojave.
Pahrump Valley 14, Moapa Valley 2 — At Pahrump, Whitney Roderick and Lauren Koenig combined on a two-hitter as the Trojans (15-16) blitzed the Pirates (12-14-1) in five innings.
Mallory Cole went 3-for-3, and Madisson Hurley had two singles for Pahrump, which used a 10-run first inning to take control.
Pahrump will face Cheyenne in an elimination game at 5 p.m. at Faith Lutheran.
