ROUNDUP: First-place Valley tops Eldorado in softball
Lorena Villamar tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with a home run, five RBIs and two runs Thursday to lead Valley’s softball team to a 10-4 home win over Eldorado.
The Vikings improved to 5-0 in the Northeast League and maintained a one-game lead over Las Vegas (4-1).
Mickayla Romero doubled twice, finishing 3-for-4 with four runs and one RBI for Valley.
Las Vegas 4, Rancho 3 — At Las Vegas, Nikki Diaz singled home Monique Hernandez with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Wildcats nipped the Rams.
Diaz finished 2-for-2, and Tiffani Taylor went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Las Vegas.
Chaparral 7, Canyon Springs 1 — At Chaparral, Andrea Bouschet went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run and pitched a complete game with three strikeouts to lead the Cowboys over the Pioneers.
Chase Marchello went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs for Chaparral, and teammate Jeniece Morgan went 2-for-3.
Clark 5, Bishop Gorman 3 — At Majestic Park, Shannon Chapman’s RBI single in the fifth inning plated Jasmine Fukuda with the go-ahead run as the Chargers beat the Gaels.
Chapman was 2-for-4, and Anna Jaehn had an RBI double for Clark.
O’Sheyon Rollins and Claudia Franco both went 2-for-3 to lead Gorman.
Spring Valley 22, Western 3 — At Spring Valley, Nicole Matyskiel went 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs to lead the Grizzlies past the Warriors.
Jasmine Wilson went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and three runs for Spring Valley. Jessica Martinez was 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBIs and three runs.
Desert Oasis 10, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Desert Oasis, Emily Heinz went 3-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run to lead the Diamondbacks over the Trojans.
Desiree Laswell pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out nine. Auburn Smith went 1-for-2 with one RBI and one run for Desert Oasis.
Shadow Ridge 6, Foothill 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Mandy Harmon tossed a three-hitter and struck out 14 to lead the Mustangs past the Falcons.
Ashley Huddleston was 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Shadow Ridge. Harmon went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.
Legacy 12, Liberty 7 — At Legacy, Darcey Cochran and Sierra Pico were both 4-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for the Longhorns in their win over the Patriots.
Diana Cassaro had a home run for Liberty.
Boulder City 4-7, Faith Lutheran 1-2 — At Boulder City, Karlee Koopman tossed a three-hitter in the opening game as the Eagles swept the Crusaders.
Koopman struck out nine in the opener. Melissa Stewart, Taylor McKeever and Brittany Patt each had two singles and an RBI for Boulder City.
In the nightcap, the Eagles used a four-run sixth inning to put away Faith Lutheran. Paxton Fleming went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for Boulder City.
White Pine 29-22, The Meadows 0-0 — At Ely, Kylie Britton pitched a one-hitter in the first game and a no-hitter in the nightcap to lead the Bobcats to two five-inning routs of the Mustangs.
Britton had four strikeouts in each game.
Alex Hall had two home runs on the day, including a grand slam in the nightcap. She had four hits in the two games.
In the first game, Kathy Murdock and Maa Kingston had two doubles each for White Pine, which scored 13 runs in the fourth inning.
In the nightcap, Sammi Scott was 3-for-3 with a double for the Bobcats, who scored 14 runs in the fourth.
