ROUNDUP: Gonzalez sends Williams home in 12th as Panthers nip Mustangs
Salina Gonzalez’s high chopper off the edge of the shortstop’s glove plated Rachel Williams with the winning run in the 12th inning Wednesday as Palo Verde’s softball team outlasted visiting Shadow Ridge, 2-1.
Williams started the bottom of the 12th with a double to left-center and advanced to third on a wild pitch. She initially broke back to third on the chopper, but scored when it ricocheted off the glove of the Mustangs’ shortstop and into left-center.
Shadow Ridge took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Mary Jordan singled home Krislyn Campos.
The Mustangs were one out away from the win, but the Panthers’ Williams scored the tying run on a throwing error with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Williams, who finished 3-for-5 with two runs was the only player to have at least two hits in the game.

Centennial 14, Cimarron-Memorial 4 — At Centennial, Kylie Bartlett had two hits and four RBIs, and Savannah Horvath and Heather Bowen each went 3-for-4 as the Bulldogs rolled past the Spartans in five innings.
Mikayla Djordjevic was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for Centennial, which led 9-1 after two innings.
Alyssa Hotman added two hits and two RBIs, and Alyssa Finger went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Bulldogs.
Carrie Sheehan was 3-for-3 with a two-run home run for Cimarron.
Arbor View 13, Cheyenne 1 — At Arbor View, Chelsa Baca tossed a five-hitter with nine strikeouts and was 3-for-3 with two RBIs as the Aggies routed the Desert Shields in five innings.
Nichole Diaz had a three-run home run in the second inning to key a nine-run burst for Arbor View.
Ashlyn Ames went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Danielle Sheridan added two hits and an RBI for the Aggies.
Faith Lutheran 19, Mojave 2 — At Faith Lutheran, Maya Barnes was 4-for-4 with a triple, a double and five RBIs, and the Crusaders did all their scoring in the first three innings of a five-inning rout of the Rattlers.
Rachel Jones and Nicole Tayrien each went 4-for-4 for Faith Lutheran.
Hayley Thomas tossed a three-hitter and struck out 10 for the Crusaders.
Coronado 6, Green Valley 3 — At Green Valley, Morgan Yuhas homered and drove in four runs to lead the Cougars past the Gators.
Kim Dawson added a home run and a double for Coronado, which got a four-hitter from Lee Harrison.
Chelsea Anderson had a two-run double for Green Valley.
Silverado 10, Del Sol 0 — At Silverado, Taylee Heckman and Aly Kosinski combined on a five-inning one-hitter as the Skyhawks blanked the Dragons.
Silverado’s Emily Galante went 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs, and Haley Nelson was 3-for-4 with three runs.
Foothill 11, Tech 0 — At Tech, Alex Petrolia tossed a five-inning one-hitter with seven strikeouts as the Falcons blanked the Roadrunners.
Gabby Canibeyaz went 3-for-4 with three runs for Foothill, which scored six runs in the top of the fifth.
Liberty 3, Basic 0 — At Liberty, Francesca Foti pitched a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts to lead the Patriots past the Wolves.
Megan Patras was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Liberty.
Las Vegas 10, Chaparral 0 — At Chaparral, Brooke Booth earned a win with seven strikeouts and belted a three-run home run in the top of the third inning to help lead the Wildcats to the five-inning win over the Cowboys.
Jenice Gutierrez had two hits and Krizzel Galvez added an RBI double for Las Vegas.
Jeniece Morgan and Sara Tucker each had two hits for Chaparral.
Valley 16, Desert Pines 0 — At Valley, Zoe Galindo was 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs as the Vikings beat the Jaguars in five innings.
Mickayla Romero hit a solo home run and Autumn Williams went 3-for-3 with three RBIs for Valley, which scored 11 runs in the first inning.
Romero and Jasmine Villamar combined on a two-hitter.
Eldorado 8, Canyon Springs 2 — At Canyon Springs, Teresa Cianflocco went 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI to lead the Sundevils by the Pioneers.
Brook Ortiz was 3-for-4 for Eldorado.
Jasmine Almendariz and Ciara Barkmeyer had two hits apiece for Eldorado.
Rancho 7, Sunrise Mountain 1 — At Sunrise Mountain, Tiffany Smith was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Rams beat the Miners.
Winning pitcher Brandy Marlett added a single, a double and two RBIs, and Tessa Davila had a single, a triple and an RBI for Rancho.
Marlett struck out four in a one-hitter.
Cedar (Utah) 13, Virgin Valley 2 — At Cedar City, Utah, the Redmen scored five runs in the fourth inning on the way to a five-inning victory over the Bulldogs.
Lexi Barnum went 1-for-2 with a double and a run for Virgin Valley.
Indian Springs 5, Mountain View 4 — At Indian Springs, the Thunderbirds scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to nip the Saints.
Alexxa Reinke and Brandi Bryl each hit a solo home run in the sixth inning to rally Indian Springs from a 4-2 deficit. Bryl was 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
