ROUNDUP: Green Valley tops Foothill to win Arizona tourney

Jacqui Cappuccilli tripled and drove in a run in a two-run first inning Saturday as Green Valley’s softball team topped Southeast League rival Foothill 2-0 in the championship game of the Arizona Pepsi Classic in Kingman, Ariz.
Ali Bodnar had an RBI fielder’s choice for the Gators.
Alicia Firelein tossed a five-inning, five-hit shutout for Green Valley, which advanced to the final by defeating Apollo (Ariz.) 4-0 and Window Rock (Ariz.), 9-0.
Alex Petrolia spun a five-hitter for the Falcons, who got a 2-for-3 effort from Jennifer James.
Foothill 7, Pahrump Valley 1 — At Kingman, Ariz., Rosie Ritchie went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs to lead the Falcons past the Trojans in the Arizona Pepsi Classic.
Maddie Wamsley went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Foothill. Petrolia tossed a five-inning four-hitter.
Rebecca Gamble tripled and had an RBI in her lone at-bat for Pahrump Valley.
Foothill 1, La Jolla (Ariz.) 0 — At Kingman, Ariz., Shelbie Medrano’s RBI single in the third inning plated Ritchie with the game’s only run as the Falcons won a semifinal game in the Arizona Pepsi Classic.
Ritchie singled to begin the inning and moved to second on a single by James.
Petrolia tossed a five-inning six-hitter and struck out five.
Liberty 14, Spring Valley 1 — At Liberty, Nikki Blindeagle went 2-for-2 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs, and the host Patriots scored nine runs in the first inning on the way to an easy win.
Rhiannon Beck was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Liberty. Teammate Kelly Phillips went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.
Robin Lowery tossed a five-inning two-hitter, stirking out nine for the Patriots.
