ROUNDUP: Juarez powers Trailblazers past Diamondbacks, into Southwest lead
Samantha Juarez went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs Friday to help Durango’s softball team claim sole possession of first place in the Southwest League with an 11-3 win over visiting Desert Oasis.
Marley Sandoval was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI for Durango (9-4, 4-0 Southwest).
Mindy Larson and Kendal Short also homered for the Trailblazers.
Desert Oasis fell to 5-10, 4-1.
Clark 8, Bonanza 4 — At Clark, Anna Jaehn went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and the Chargers scored four runs in the first inning and cruised to the win.
J.J. Fukuda was 3-for-4 with a home run for Clark..
Emily Osborn went 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and three RBIs for the Bengals.
Spring Valley 19, Sierra Vista 7 — At Sierra Vista, Georgi DeLio was 4-for-5 with a double and two triples to help the Grizzlies to the six-inning win.
Danyella Gonzalez had a double and a triple for the Mountain Lions.
Centennial 17, Mojave 4 — At Centennial, Mia Acuna went 3-for-3 with a double, and the Bulldogs used an eight-run first inning to take control on their way to a five-inning win.
Alyssa Hotman was 2-for-2 with a double for Centennial.
Cimarron-Memorial 8, Legacy 1 — At Legacy, Hannah Williams went 4-for-5 with an inside-the-park home run and four runs scored as the Spartans topped the Longhorns.
Carrie Sheehan went 3-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs for Cimarron.
Palo Verde 5, Cheyenne 1 — At Palo Verde, Angel Council was 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Panthers to victory over the Desert Shields.
Rachel Williams struck out six and scattered seven hits to earn the victory for Palo Verde. Melissa McCormick went 2-for-3 for the Panthers.
Rachel Holly tripled and doubled for the Desert Shields.
Faith Lutheran 16, Del Sol 5 — At Del Sol, Lauryn Lipe went 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs as the Crusaders routed the Dragons in five innings.
Hayley Thomas tossed a five-hitter and struck out 10 for Faith Lutheran.
Mara Watkins and Amber Huggins each went 2-for-2 for Del Sol.
Frankie Lee went 3-for-3 for the Crusaders.
Canyon View (Utah) 2, Las Vegas 1 — At Las Vegas, the Falcons rallied with two unearned runs in the fifth inning and held on to beat the Wildcats.
A single by Kristine Pasion and a subsequent fielder’s choice helped give Las Vegas a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning.
Pahrump Valley 10, Bishop Gorman 10 — At Pahrump, the Trojans and Gaels had their game suspended in the ninth inning because of darkness.
Boulder City 10-15, Moapa Valley 2-4 — At Overton, Taylor McKeever went 5-for-9 with two doubles on the day to help the Eagles sweep a doubleheader with the Pirates.
Ariel O’Neill went 3-for-5 with a double for Boulder City in the six-inning nightcap.
Needles 10-10, Mountain View 0-0 — At Mountain View, Abby Chandler tossed a five-inning two-hitter in the opener, and Dakota Lillard fired a five-inning two-hitter in the nightcap as the Mustangs swept the Saints.
