ROUNDUP: Medrano tosses no-hitter to lead Foothill past Tech
Shelbie Medrano fired a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts and drove in both runs with a single and an RBI groundout Wednesday to lead Foothill’s softball team to a 2-0 win at Tech.
Myranda Mortel went 2-for-2 and scored both runs for Foothill.
Liberty 4, Basic 2 — At Liberty, Breanna English scattered four hits and struck out six and hit a single and a double to help the Patriots down the Wolves.
Francesca Foti and Kelly Phillips each had a triple and Megan Patras went 2-for-3 for Liberty.
Megan Feher went 2-for-3 for Basic.
Silverado 11, Del Sol 1 — At Silverado, Alexa Garcia’s grand slam highlighted a 10-run second inning for the Skyhawks.
Amanda Trempe was 2-for-2 with three RBIs, and Garcia and Mikayla Thielges each added two hits.
Katie Devlin threw a one-hitter with five strikeouts to get the win.
Green Valley 10, Coronado 0 — At Green Valley, Alicia Firelein went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs and the Gators took advantage of 10 Coronado errors en route to the win.
Annamarie Smith was 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Gators, Carly Smith was 2-for-2, and Shelby Vickers was 2-for-3.
Centennial 10, Legacy 6— At Centennial, Johnna Brown went 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBIs and three runs scored to help the Bulldogs outslug the Longhorns.
Centennial’s Lindsay Konopelko went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Legacy’s Sierra Pico went 4-for-4 with an RBI.
Shadow Ridge 7, Arbor View 3 — At Shadow Ridge, Rae-Ann Bohm and Ashley Eldridge each went 3-for-4 to lead the Mustangs past the Aggies.
Bohm also had a double and an RBI, and teammate Britney Cato went 2-for-3.
Arbor View’s Chelsea Venable went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.
Palo Verde 6, Cheyenne 4 — At Palo Verde, winning pitcher Missy McCormick helped herself with two hits and Lauren Stover supplied two hits to help the Panthers beat the Desert Shields.
McCormick pitched a complete game with four strikeouts.
Cheyenne’s Lexi Galindo homered.
Cimarron-Memorial 34, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, Nora Murphy and Cintia Mejia each hit a grand slam, and the visiting Spartans used a 12-run first inning and a 13-run third inning to rout the Rattlers.
Cimarron’s Samantha Valdez was 5-for-5 with a triple. Murphy finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs.
