ROUNDUP: Pico pitches Longhorns to tournament title

Sierra Pico picked up three victories on Saturday in Needles, Calif., to lead Legacy to the title at the Colorado River Invitational.

Pico was the winning pitcher in all three games for the Longhorns, who beat Palo Verde (Calif.) 6-3 in the title game.

Pico tossed a no-hitter in a 2-1 win over Boulder City. She walked one and struck out 10.

Kayla Murray singled home the winning run with two outs in the with two outs in the bottom of the seventh in that game.

The Longhorns also earned a 4-3 win over Yuma (Ariz.).

Jesse Wilhelm’s one-out single in the sixth and final inning plated Murray with the winning run in that game.

Cimarron-Memorial 11, Northridge (Utah) 0 — At St. George, Utah, Paige Savage was 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead the Spartans to the win in the March Warm-Up.

Samantha Valdez added two hits and two RBIs, and Jessica White homered for Cimarron.

Cimarron-Memorial 7, Arbor View 0 — At St. George, Utah, Carrie Sheehan was 2-for-3 and pitched a four-hitter to lead the Spartans over the Aggies.

Sheehan struck out five. Nora Murphy was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Cimarron. Chelsea Venable and Nichole Diaz each went 2-for-3 for Arbor View.

Dixie (Utah) 1, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At St. George, Utah, Dixie scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first and held off the Spartans.

Sheehan allowed four hits and struck out 11. Savage went 2-for-3.
