ROUNDUP: Romero, perfect defense help Vikings nip Wildcats

Mickayla Romero tossed an eight-hitter, and her Valley softball teammates played errorless defense Monday to preserve a 2-1 home win over Las Vegas High.

The Vikings scored a single run in both the fourth and fifth innings, making the most of two hits in the game.

Zoe Galindo tripled and scored for Valley.

Rancho 2, Eldorado 0 — At Rancho, Aly Lamboo spun a one-hitter and added two singles and an RBI to lead the Rams past the Sundevils.

Lamboo struck out 13 and allowed only two walks.

Ashley Jarzombek fired a five-hitter and fanned eight for Eldorado.

Canyon Springs 13, Sunrise Mountain 3 — At Canyon Springs, Ally Gibbons went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs for the Pioneers in a rout of the Miners in five innings.

Cierra Berkemeyer went 2-for-3 with a triple, a double and two RBIs for Canyon Springs.

Chaparral 25, Desert Pines 1 — At Chaparral, Kendy Reynoso went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, a double, three runs and seven RBIs, and the Cowboys exploded for 18 runs in the second inning on their way to a five-inning romp.

Andrea Bouschet tossed a one-hitter with six strikeouts and went 4-for-4 with three RBIs for Chaparral.

Valerie Talamantez was 4-for-5 with a triple, a double and three RBIs for the Cowboys.

Coronado 10, Foothill 9 — At Foothill, Kim Dawson went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs as the Cougars held off the Falcons.

Dawson belted a two-run homer during a four-run sixth inning that gave the Cougars a 10-7 lead.

Danielle Amato went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs and struck out the final two batters to preserve the win.

Rhiana Balaun went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBIs and three runs scored for Foothill.

Silverado 14, Tech 6 — At Tech, Aly Kosinski was 4-for-5 with a triple, a double and four RBIs as the Skyhawks defeated the Roadrunners.

Ashlee Phillips went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, and Kaitlyn Amaral hit a solo homer for Silverado.

Jordyn Roark was 3-for-4 to lead Tech.

Liberty 12, Del Sol 2 — At Liberty, Francesca Foti went 3-for-3 with a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs as the Patriots cruised past the Dragons in five innings.

Megan Patras was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs for Liberty, and teammates Isabella Baca and Diana Cassaro added two hits and two RBIs apiece.
