ROUNDUP: Schmidt’s no-hitter clinches postseason berth for Calvary Chapel
Jamie Schmidt tossed a six-inning no-hitter in the opening game Friday as Calvary Chapel’s softball team secured a spot in the Class 2A Southern League playoffs with a 10-0, 17-5 doubleheader sweep of host Mountain View.
Schmidt and Sammie Mann each had a double and a triple in the nightcap, when the Lions scored 10 runs in the top of the first inning to take control.
Malori Mauck had two doubles in the second game for the Saints.
Centennial 4, Rancho 3 — At Centennial, Mikayla Djordjevic went 2-for-2 with a double, and Jessica Cooper tossed a five-hitter with eight strikeouts as the Bulldogs nipped the Rams.
Bailie Nelson and Alyssa Finger each finished 2-for-3 for Centennial.
Jomel Rayos was 2-for-4 for Rancho.
Boulder City 9-19, Virgin Valley 8-0 — At Boulder City, Karlee Koopman tossed a five-inning no-hitter in the second game to help the Eagles sweep a doubleheader against the Bulldogs.
Nicole Wood went 3-for-3 for Boulder City in the first game, and teammate Paxton Fleming went 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBIs in the second game.
Needles 18-10, The Meadows 0-0 — At The Meadows, Abby Chandler went 5-for-5 in the opener, and Alex Chandler had three hits, including a home run and a triple, in the nightcap as Needles routed The Meadows in both ends of a twinbill.
Chrystian Dick homered, and Haley Laswell went 2-for-3 in the opener for Needles.
In the nightcap, Holly Laswell homered for Needles.
Lake Mead 6-17, Indian Springs 4-1 — At Lake Mead, Amanda Wellman hit three home runs in the nightcap and finished the day with four homers and 10 RBIs as the Eagles swept the Thunderbirds.
Annabelle Liston finished 5-for-8 with a double on the day for Lake Mead, which won the second game in five innings.
Lynzee Freund picked up the win in both games, and was 3-for-4 with a solo homer in the opener.
Indian Springs’ Brandi Bryl belted a three-run home run in the opener.
Pahranagat Valley 11-9, Tonopah 1-4 — At Tonopah, Addie Canning spun a six-inning complete game with 12 strikeouts and added a double in the opener to lead the Panthers to a doubleheader sweep of the Muckers.
Stevie Horrocks went 4-for-4 with an RBI for Pahranagat, which got 17 hits in the first game.
Christina Bradley scored Tonopah’s lone run in the opener.
In the nightcap, Kyla Mortensen tossed nine strikeouts with three walks for the Panthers, and Tami Spencer and Canning each blasted a home run.
