ROUNDUP: Short measures up as Trailblazers top Chargers

Kendal Short went 3-for-5 with a double, and Durango’s softball team took advantage of fielding errors to score two runs in the top of the eighth inning Tuesday and down host Clark, 5-3.

Marley Sandoval added two hits for Durango.

Kaitlyn Szeles had two hits and two RBIs to lead Clark.

Bonanza 7, Desert Oasis 6 — At Bonanza, Nicolette Lind went 2-for-3, and the Bengals used a five-run first inning to build a 7-1 lead and hold on for a win over the Diamondbacks.

Tori Lind was 2-for-4 for Bonanza.

Holly O’Hara was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, and Lenzi Cram went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Desert Oasis.

Bishop Gorman 18, Sierra Vista 3 — At Sierra Vista, O’Sheyon Rollins went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Alexandria Gordon was 4-for-5 with a double and an RBI as the Gaels routed the Mountain Lions in five innings.

Miranda Robles had two hits, which scored eight runs in the first inning to pull away.

Pahrump Valley 13, Western 3 — At Western, the Trojans used a nine-run first inning to pull away from the Warriors.

Palo Verde 3, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Melissa McCormick fired a two-hitter with eight strikeouts to lead the Panthers past the Longhorns.

Palo Verde broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the sixth inning, and McCormick’s leadoff double sparked a two-run seventh.

Legacy’s Sierra Pico tossed a four-hitter and fanned five.

Centennial 13, Cheyenne 3 — At Cheyenne, Heather Bowen went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored, and Savannah Horvath added three hits, including a double, as the Bulldogs routed the Desert Shields in six innings.

Kylie Bartlett and Mia Acuna each hit a double and a single for Centennial, which got three hits from Taylor Huntly and two hits apiece from Bailie Nelson and Shannon Brown.

Rachel Holly had a double and a single, and Lindsey Galindo went 2-for-2 to lead Cheyenne. 

Arbor View 12, Faith Lutheran 0 — At Faith Lutheran, Chelsa Baca tossed a five-inning four-hitter with eight strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Aggies past the Crusaders.

Nichole Diaz went 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Arbor View.

Maya Barnes went 2-for-2 for Faith Lutheran.

Shadow Ridge 13, Mojave 0 — At Shadow Ridge, four Mustang pitchers combined on a one-hitter, and Shadow Ridge used an 11-run first inning on its way to a five-inning victory over the Rattlers.

Spring Valley 10, Virgin Valley 9 — At Spring Valley, Georgi DeLio’s RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning brought home Michelle Schneider with the winning run as the Grizzlies nipped the Bulldogs.

Winning pitcher Ashlee Coate went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Schneider was 2-for-3 with two runs for Spring Valley.

Jessica Martinez went 2-for-2 with four runs and an RBI for the Grizzlies.

Cimarron-Memorial 10, Moapa Valley 3 — At Overton, Hannah Williams went 2-for-4 with four runs scored as the Spartans rolled past the Pirates.

Nora Murphy was 2-for-4 with three runs scored for Cimarron.

Rachel Dalley went 2-for-3 for Moapa Valley.

Mountain View 3-1, Tonopah 2-4 — At Mountain View, Lexi Alley went 3-for-3 with a triple, a home run and an RBI in the opener as the Saints split a doubleheader with the Muckers.

Britney Klapper was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Tonopah in the nightcap.

Indian Springs 11-22, Laughlin 0-3 — At Laughlin, Brandi Bryl pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts in the first game and went 5-for-5 with a triple and two doubles in the nightcap as the Thunderbirds routed the Cougars in a pair of five-inning games.

Indian Springs’ Baylee McCormick was a combined 6-for-6 in the two games, and Heather Thormahlen went 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and five RBIs in the nightcap.

Pahranagat Valley 15, The Meadows 1 — At Alamo, Stevie Horrocks was 2-for-2 with two doubles and five RBIs as the Panthers routed the Mustangs in five innings.
