SMALL-SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Taylor’s homer helps Panthers move into Division IV title game

Madalyn Taylor hit a solo home run, and host Pahranagat Valley’s softball team defeated Indian Springs, 7-4 in the winners’ bracket final of the Division IV Southern League tournament Friday.

The Panthers (15-6) will meet Indian Springs (20-6) again in the title game at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Ashlyn Wadsworth tossed a six-hitter for Pahranagat Valley.

Hannah Prine was 2-for-4 with a double for Indian Springs.

Indian Springs 14, Tonopah 3 — Hannah Thormahlen was 3-for-3 with a double and a home run as the Thunderbirds earned their way back into the title game by topping the Muckers (5-6) in five innings.

Caroline Stark also homered for Indian Springs.

Tonopah 18, Sandy Valley 4 — Ally Otero had two doubles, and Sandra Dunn homered to lead the Muckers by the Sidewinders (6-12-1) in an elimination game.

DIVISION III

Aspen Wilkin tossed a six-inning three-hitter and went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs as host Lincoln County’s softball team advanced to the championship game of the Division III Southern League tournament with a 13-1 win over White Pine on Friday.

The Lynx (22-7) will meet the Bobcats (15-6) again for the championship at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Josie Burgess homered and had three RBIs, and Cameron Lloyd was 3-for-3 for Lincoln County.

Kadi Finicum homered for White Pine.

White Pine 11, Needles 8 — Jane Murdock had a home run and three RBIs, and Teal Hussey homered as the Bobcats earned their way back to the final by eliminating the Mustangs (14-10).

Jaden Ernest doubled and had two RBIs for White Pine.

Brenna Chavez homered and had three RBIs for Needles, which earlier in the day eliminated Mountain View (11-17) by winning 15-5 in five innings.
