SOFTBALL: Beatty slams two homers as Panthers rout Skyhawks

Cara Beatty belted two home runs, and Rachael Turner went 4-for-4 with three doubles and five RBIs on Monday as Palo Verde’s softball team routed host Silverado, 17-6 in five innings.

Beatty finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs, and Brooke Stover was 4-for-5 with a double and five RBIs for Palo Verde. Kiley Harrison was 3-for-4 and scored four runs for the Panthers.

Heaven Calhoun and Korina Pindel each went 2-for-3 for the Skyhawks, and teammate Sarah Ford doubled and had three RBIs.

Basic 10, Las Vegas 6 — At Las Vegas, Happy Butler was 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs as the Wolves topped the Wildcats.

Paige Blake went 2-for-4 with a run for Basic, which scored seven runs in the third inning.

Las Vegas answered with six runs in the fourth, but couldn’t complete the comeback.

Bishop Gorman 9-17, Lincoln (Ore.) 7-2 — At Gorman, Shelby Estocado went 3-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs in the nightcap to help the Gaels sweep the Cardinals.

Ashley Witucki was 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs, and Carrie Keller had two hits, including a triple, and two runs for Gorman.

Estocado doubled twice in the opener, and Kasey Billadeau and Cassi Nelson each added two hits for the Gaels.

Liberty 21, Bonanza 1 — At Bonanza, Tiana Tapuala went 3-for-5 with a double, five RBIs and two runs as the Patriots routed the Bengals in five innings.

Hayley Freestone went 2-for-5 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs for Liberty, which had just nine hits but was helped by seven Bonanza errors.

Karly Dinkel threw a one-hitter, striking out four with no walks, for Liberty.

Legacy 18, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Haley Pedersen allowed one hit and struck out six over five innings as the Patriots routed the Pioneers.

Gabby Rinker homered, doubled and had four RBIs for Legacy. Eliza Rodriguez added a triple and two RBIs, and Kaila Haslem and Lindsey Fishman each doubled twice for the Longhorns.

Western 13, Desert Pines 1 — At Western, Brenda Sandoval tossed a six-hitter with nine strikeouts as the Warriors routed the Jaguars in five innings.

Sandoval, Yatzi Carranza, Jennessa Dunton and Brooklyn Artiaga each went 3-for-3 for Western, and teammate Belinda Sandoval was 3-for-4.

Sunrise Mountain 18, Clark 3 — At Clark, winning pitcher Andrea Garner struck out 10 to help the Miners top the Chargers in five innings.

Brianna Twyman went 2-for-2 for Sunrise Mountain.

Shadow Ridge 10, Eldorado 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Tana Feiner tossed a four-hitter and struck out seven as the Mustangs topped the Sundevils in five innings.

Shadow Ridge scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the game away.
