SOFTBALL: Blazek’s hit gives Gators win over Foothill
Alexa Blazek doubled home Cinthia Garcia with two outs in the top of the seventh to give Green Valley’s softball team a 5-4 road win over Foothill on Monday.
Alexandria Frayer started the inning with a leadoff double for Green Valley. Two batters later, Garcia doubled in Frayer to tie the game at 4-4. Frayer finished 2-for-3.
Jazmine Dukes went 3-for-4 with a double for the Falcons.
Boulder City 10, Moapa Valley 0 — At Boulder City, Charlene Masterson spun a two-hitter and struck out eight as the Eagles blanked the Pirates in six innings in a battle for first place in the Division I-A Sunrise League.
Micayla Gegen had two hits and two RBIs for Boulder City.
Lily Osman and Jeanne Carmell each added two hits for the Eagles, and teammates Bailey Bennett-Jordan and Jordan Moorhead each had two RBIs.
Liberty 12, Silverado 0 — At Silverado, Breanna Alvarez allowed four hits and struck out five as the Patriots blanked the Skyhawks in five innings.
Morgan LaNeve went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and four RBIs for Liberty.
Sierra Jaramillo was 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBIs, and teammate Marisa Olmos went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs for Liberty.
Alessandra Ponce went 2-for-2 to lead Silverado.
Tech 7, Chaparral 3 — At Tech, Julia Lopez went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Roadrunners past the Cowboys.
Ashlee Carratelli allowed one run and fanned four over four innings to pick up the win.
Nayeli Rivas doubled for Chaparral.
Virgin Valley 10, Del Sol 0 — At Mesquite, Adri Wakefield threw a one-hitter with two strikeouts as the Bulldogs defeated the Dragons in five innings.
Calee Clem was 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs for Virgin Valley. Taylor Barnum went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs for the Bulldogs, and teammate Savannah Price was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run.
Tylee Robison and Shalee Hafen each added two hits for Virgin Valley.
Sunrise Mountain 14, Desert Pines 1 — At Desert Pines, Andrea Garner struck out 15 in seven innings to lead the Miners by the Jaguars.
Garner also had three RBIs for Sunrise Mountain, which scored five runs in the top of the first.
Amy Locklear had four hits, and Zoey Ruiz added three hits and two RBIs for Sunrise Mountain, which got three RBIs from Selena Martinez.
Maria Gaspar had three hits for Desert Pines.
Basic 21, Valley 0 — At Valley, Lexie Edmunds threw a two-hitter with five strikeouts as the Wolves routed the Vikings in five innings.
Carlee Gettman was 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and two RBIs for Basic. The Wolves had 12 hits and were helped by nine Valley errors.
Las Vegas 20, Canyon Springs 2 — At Las Vegas, Sarina Ramirez went 2-for-3 with a double to help the Wildcats rout the Pioneers in five innings.
Sabrina Saldate was 2-for-4 with a double for Las Vegas, which scored 10 runs in the first inning.
Sydney Gardner was 2-for-2 with a double for Canyon Springs.
Faith Lutheran JV 11, Mountain View 0 — At Mountain View, Calleen Ryan tossed a five-inning two-hitter and struck out 13 to lead the Crusaders’ junior varsity by the Saints.
