SOFTBALL: Campbell’s sac fly lifts Foothill over Las Vegas
Alexia Campbell’s sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning plated the eventual winning run as Foothill’s softball team edged host Las Vegas, 4-3 on Friday.
Jazmine Dukes went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double for the Falcons.
Melina Fabian was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run for the Wildcats.
Sunrise Mountain 9, Chaparral 2 — At Chaparral, Andrea Garner spun a four-hitter and struck out 12 to help the Miners top the Cowboys.
Zoey Ruiz was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs, and Garner went 2-for-4 with a double for Sunrise Mountain.
Nayeli Rivas went 2-for-3 with a double, and Brandi Vara had a two-run triple for Chaparral.
Liberty 14, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, Soraya Seumalo tossed a five-inning no-hitter as the Patriots routed the Pioneers.
Adara Leyba had a double and two RBIs for Liberty.
Coronado 13, Silverado 3 — At Coronado, winning pitcher Ashley Ward was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and the Cougars used a nine-run sixth inning to down the Skyhawks in six innings.
Sarah Pinkston was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Tatum Spangler was 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Coronado. Basia Query went 2-for-2 with an RBI for the Cougars.
Tech 11, Desert Pines 1 — At Tech, Mckenzie Pope spun a five-inning six-hitter to lead the Roadrunners by the Jaguars.
Maiya Richardson tripled and singled for Desert Pines.
Eldorado 16, Valley 3 — At Eldorado, winning pitcher Heather Holman doubled and had three RBIs as the Sundevils downed the Vikings in five innings.
Kristina Manthei drove in a run with a double for Valley.
Rancho 6, Tulare Western (Calif.) 0 — At Fresno, California, Samantha Pochop tossed a three-hitter and struck out 19 as the Rams defeated the Mustangs in eight innings in the Washington Union Invitational.
Sammi Llamas belted a grand slam to key a six-run eighth inning for the Rams.
Jahnae Davis-Houston was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Rancho.
Boulder City 16, Virgin Valley 1 — At Mesquite, Bailey Bennett-Jordan threw a five-inning seven-hitter with 10 strikeouts and had three hits and three RBIs to help the Eagles rout the Bulldogs.
Charlene Masterson added three hits for Boulder City.
Janella Fiso had two hits for Virgin Valley.
Laughlin 21-25, Calvary Chapel 11-12 — At Laughlin, Carissa Wollerton had a grand slam, a double and seven RBIs in the opener and a three-run home run, a double and five RBIs in the nightcap as the Cougars swept the Lions.
Brittany Schelper had four singles and five RBIs to help Laughlin win the first game in six innings.
In the second game, Schelper tripled, doubled and had four RBIs, and teammate Jalynn Quibell had a triple, a single and three RBIs as the Cougars won in five innings.
Calvary Chapel’s Emily Mejorada had two home runs, a double and six RBIs in the finale.
Needles 25-20, The Meadows 0-0 — At The Meadows, Paige Murch went 3-for-3 with a home run, a triple, a double and six RBIs in the opener and had three hits and four RBIs in the nightcap as Needles swept a pair of five-inning games from The Meadows.
Jayce Fragoso went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs, and Brenna Chavez went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs in the first game for Needles.
Needles’ Kaci Rodriguez tossed a three-hitter and struck out six in the opener.
In the second game, Kourtni Fletcher tossed a no-hitter and struck out nine for Needles.
Preslee Murch added three hits, and Chavez had two hits and five RBIs for Needles.
