SOFTBALL: Cascos’ big game sends Roadrunners past Miners
Gizele Cascos allowed one earned run on six hits Friday and went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead Tech’s softball team to a 5-4 win over Sunrise Mountain at Anthem Hills Park.
Cascos struck out eight, including the final batter with two on in the seventh to end the game.
Ashley Ramsey was 2-for-3 with a double, and Kimmie Rodriguez went 2-for-4 for the Roadrunners, who led 5-0 after two innings.
Natalie Sharp, Jessica Gomez and Brittany Miller each had two hits for the Miners.
Legacy 4, Spring Valley 1 — At Spring Valley, Alyssa Sotel and Kaila Haslem each had a hit and an RBI, and the Longhorns scored all of their runs in the top of the sixth to top the Grizzlies.
Ellie Endsley was 3-for-4, and Mariah Ward went 2-for-4 with a triple for Spring Valley. Madison Macove was 2-for-3, and Vivian Quiroz-Montano went 2-for-4 for the Grizzlies.
Basic 7, Valley 3 — At Basic, Carlie Gettman and Ashley Lampkey each went 2-for-3 with an RBI to help the Wolves overcome an early 3-1 deficit to top the Vikings.
Monica McAllister was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI, and Paige Blake scored three runs for Basic.
Valley’s Kristina Manthei tossed a six-hitter and struck out nine.
Coronado 5, Sierra Vista 1 — At Sierra Vista, Basia Query went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to help the Cougars beat the Mountain Lions.
Katie Dawson went 3-for-4 with two doubles for Coronado, and teammates Jaiden Johnson and Jillian James teamed to toss a two-hitter.
Arbor View 12, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, Ashlyn Ames went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBIs to lead the Aggies by the Desert Shields.
Bryce Henricksen also went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Arbor View.
Breanne Henricksen, Sarah Bradford and Taylor Thomas combined to throw a two-hitter for the Aggies.
Italy Mora went 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Desert Shields.
Pahrump Valley 15, Chaparral 1 — At Chaparral, Whitney Roderick spun a six-inning one-hitter and struck out 10 as the Trojans routed the Cowboys.
Jordan Egan was 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Kristal Kaiwi went 3-for-4 with a double for Pahrump.
Boulder City 10, Moapa Valley 0 — At Overton, Charlene Masterson tossed a five-inning three-hitter to lead the Eagles past the Pirates.
Masterson, who struck out seven and didn’t allow a walk, also went 3-for-4 with a double.
Katlyn Jackson, Alyssa Ybarra, Summer Smith and Bryanna Lopez added two hits apiece for Boulder City.
Virgin Valley 12, Desert Pines 2 — At Mesquite, Becca Bramlage went 3-for-4 with a double and tossed a five-inning three-hitter with five strikeouts as the Bulldogs topped the Jaguars.
Janella Fiso was 3-for-4 with a double, and Emma Barnum went 2-for-4 for Virgin Valley.
Lincoln County 28-22, Lake Mead 0-8 — At River Mountain Park, Aspen Wilkin homered in the opener, and Cameron Lloyd homered and doubled in the nightcap as the Lynx swept the Eagles in a pair of five-inning games.
Kayla Mathews tossed a three-hitter in the opener for Lincoln County.
