SOFTBALL: Cougars score final nine runs, top Patriots
Winning pitcher Danielle Amato went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs on Wednesday to help Coronado’s softball team to a 13-4 win at Liberty.
Jillian James went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Brooke Younie was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Cougars, who scored the final nine runs of the game.
Tiana Tapuala was 2-for-3, and Kylie Hefley went 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for the Patriots.
Pahrump Valley 13, Clark 0 — At Clark, Whitney Roderick tossed a no-hitter and faced the minimum 15 batters as the Trojans routed the Chargers in five innings.
Roderick struck out 10. Clark’s lone runner reached on a Pahrump error, but was erased trying to steal.
Moapa Valley 11, Tech 3 — At Anthem Hills Park, Makayla Jackson went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI, and winning pitcher Makendie Frei had three hits and three RBIs to lead the Pirates past the Roadrunners.
Cymoni Cooper was 4-for-5 with two RBIs for Moapa Valley.
Kimmie Rodriguez went 3-for-3 for Tech.
Cheyenne 7, Mojave 1 — At Cheyenne, Taylor Cole and Brittany Leeds each had two hits and two RBIs as the Desert Shields downed the Rattlers.
Winning pitcher Alyssa Fata also had two hits for Cheyenne, which used a five-run sixth inning to pull away.
Terren Vinson had two hits, and Danette Daguiar added an RBI single for Mojave.
Foothill 14, Eldorado 4 — At Foothill, Alexia Campbell went 2-for-3 with a triple, a homer and four RBIs to help the Falcons to the five-inning win over the Sundevils.
Daryan Meade went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Hannah Stevens and Kelsey McFarland each went 3-for-4 for Foothill.
Eldorado’s Kristie Thomas was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI.
Centennial 11, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Centennial, Cheyenne Cudahy tossed a five-inning one-hitter as the Bulldogs routed the Spartans.
Lacie Chakos went 3-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs, and teammate Lauren Stroman was 3-for-3 with a two-run double for Centennial, which used a nine-run third inning to pull away.
Faith Lutheran 12, Western 0 — At Western, Claire Peck had a home run and six RBIs, and Alex Wright had two doubles and two RBIs as the Crusaders blanked the Warriors in six innings.
Dani Tharaldson had a triple and two RBIs for Faith Lutheran, which led 8-0 after two innings.
Lauren Beatty tossed a two-hitter for the Crusaders.
Basic 15, Del Sol 1 — At Basic, Paige Blake went 2-for-3 with a triple, three runs and two RBIs, and Bailey Cunanan was 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI to help the Wolves down the Dragons in five innings.
Hailey Collins was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and an RBI, and Happy Butler had a triple and two RBIs for Basic.
Becca Pullen spun a two-hitter with five strikeouts for the Wolves.
Shadow Ridge 13, Las Vegas 3 — At Las Vegas, Kate Dennis had a grand slam, a double and five RBIs to lift the Mustangs over the Wildcats.
Sofia Meza added two singles, and Isabelle Scarale pitched a five-hitter and struck out three for Shadow Ridge.
Canyon Springs 21, Desert Pines 5 — At Canyon Springs, Gabi Burgara had a double and three RBIs, and the Pioneers took advantage of 19 walks and four errors to rout the Jaguars in five innings.
Lizet Rodarte tossed a one-hitter for Canyon Springs.
Bonanza at Desert Oasis — At Desert Oasis, the Diamondbacks led 15-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning before the game was halted due to rain.
