SOFTBALL: Denman pitches Shadow Ridge to Division I Sunset League title
Shelbi Denman tossed a six-inning four-hitter with 13 strikeouts Wednesday to help Shadow Ridge’s softball team clinch the Division I Sunset League title with an 11-1 win at Legacy.
Kate Dennis went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Sofia Meza was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI for the Mustangs. Alisha Schultz and Caitlyn Covington also went 2-for-4 for Shadow Ridge.
Clarissa Lona was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Longhorns.
Centennial 16, Cimarron-Memorial 0 — At Cimarron, Jennifer Cerrone and Deanna Barrera combined on a five-inning perfect game as the Bulldogs routed the Spartans.
Cerrone struck out one in three innings, and Barrera struck out five of the six hitters she faced.
Angel Love went 3-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs for Centennial. Lina Barrera was 4-for-4, and Jazmine Rivera went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Centennial, which also got a home run from Hannah Jones.
Bishop Gorman 11, Arbor View 10 — At Gorman, Kasey Bilodeau’s two-out, three-run double capped a five-run bottom of the sixth inning and lifted the Gaels by the Aggies.
Hayley Coreas was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Morgan Blanner went 1-for-3 with three runs for Gorman, which led 6-3 before surrendering five runs in the top of the fourth inning. The Aggies stretched the lead to 10-6 entering the bottom of the sixth.
Terren Vinson was 3-for-4 with four runs, and Kellie Anderson was 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs for Arbor View.
Palo Verde 12, Durango 4 — At Durango, Allyson Snelling hit two home runs, and Grace Chavez smacked a three-run homer to help the Panthers rally to beat the Trailblazers.
Palo Verde trailed 4-0 after three innings and 4-2 after five innings before erupting for nine runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Taylor Askland tossed a five-hitter and struck out four for Palo Verde.
Faith Lutheran 10, Pahrump Valley 0 — At Pahrump, Mosie Foley threw a four-hitter with nine strikeouts and one walk as the Crusaders topped the Trojans.
Samantha Jack went 3-for-4 with a double, and Grace Hornsby went 3-for-4 for Faith Lutheran, which had 15 hits.
Haley Jack and Clara Heislen each went 2-for-4 for the Crusaders.
Desert Oasis 17, Bonanza 2 — At Bonanza, Lauryn Kern tossed a one-hitter and was 3-for-4 as the Diamondbacks routed the Bengals in five innings.
Holly Severance and Izriah Hodson each went 3-for-3 with a double for Desert Oasis, which scored six runs in the first and the third innings.
Hailey Jaramillo doubled twice for the Diamondbacks.
Zowie Manuma had an RBI single for Bonanza.
Western 21, Clark 2 — At Western, Alexis Moeaki was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBIs, and Jennessa Dunton went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs as the Warriors routed the Chargers in five innings.
Mireya Villela was 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, and Capricia Pierce scored three times and drove in a run for Western, which scored 10 runs in the first inning.
Baleria Garcia had two RBIs and scored twice for the Warriors.
Western pitchers Makalita Moeaki and Gisela Cano combined on a one-hitter.
Iris Garcia had the lone hit for Clark and scored a run.
Mojave 23, Cheyenne 15 — At Cheyenne, Natalie Paredes had four hits, including a triple, as the Rattlers built a 17-3 lead in the third inning and held off the Desert Shields.
Anastasia Evans and Sarah Mercado added three hits apiece for Mojave.
Kaitlyn Dutton and Victoria Rosales each had three hits for Cheyenne.
