SOFTBALL: Grizzlies Michaela Hood strikes out 15 in five-inning perfect game

Spring Valley’s Michaela Hood fired a five-inning perfect game on Monday as the Grizzlies routed Bonanza, 20-0.

Hood struck out all 15 batters she faced on just 55 pitches.

Madison Macove had two doubles and three RBIs to lead the Grizzlies at the plate.

Kelsey Adams was 4-for-5 with two RBIs, Marlenda Adras was 3-5 with four RBIs, and Normandie Kniola doubled and had two RBIs for Spring Valley.

Shadow Ridge 1, Palo Verde 0 — At Shadow Ridge, Samantha Milanovich singled home Kate Dennis in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Mustangs the win over the top-ranked Panthers.

Dennis began the inning with a double, then Milanovich singled to right-center field to plate Dennis. Milanovich finished 2-for-3.

Shelbi Denman went the distance, scattering six hits, to get the win. She struck out four and walked four.

Grace Chavez was 3-for-3 with a double for Palo Verde. Losing pitcher Kelsea Sweeney struck out eight in six innings.

Bishop Gorman 9, Legacy 2 — At Gorman, Megan Coyle went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI to help the Gaels defeat the Longhorns.

Jasmine Gibson was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and teammate Monique Passalacqua went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs for Gorman.

Samantha Stanfill scattered seven hits to get the win.

Kellie Nelson and Lindsey Fishman each went 2-for-3 for Legacy.

Durango 7, Sierra Vista 3 — At Sierra Vista, Alexis Geraldo had a solo homer and drove in four runs to lead the Trailblazers over the Mountain Lions.

Kaitlyn O’Hearn went 3-for-3 with a triple for Durango.

Silverado 11, Las Vegas 0 — At Las Vegas, Gabby Santiago threw a two-hitter and struck out six as the Skyhawks downed the Wildcats in six innings.

Sarah Ford doubled and drove in three runs for Silverado.

Alessandra Ponce doubled and drove in two runs, and teammate Karissa Jones had two RBIs for the Skyhawks.

Sunrise Mountain 12, Moapa Valley 2 — At Sunrise Mountain, Brittany Miller was 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Miners over the Pirates in five innings.

Denise Terzoli went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for Sunrise Mountain.

Andrea Garner pitched a five-hitter with five strikeouts and no walks to get the win.

Chaparral 18, Del Sol 1 — At Del Sol, the Cowboys scored 10 runs in the third inning to run away with the five-inning victory over the Dragons.

Losi Brown pitched a complete game, allowing six hits, to get the win for Chaparral, which took advantage of 10 Del Sol errors.

Alina Marruffo went 3-for-3 with a double for the Dragons.

Mojave 13, Canyon Springs 3 — At Mojave, Ariel Wilson and Anastasia Evans each went 2-for-4 with a triple to lead the Rattlers to the five-inning victory over the Pioneers.

Mojave, which scored seven runs in the fourth to pull away, had just eight hits but took advantage of nine Canyon Springs errors.

Boulder City 16, Desert Pines 1 — At Boulder City, Jordan Moorhead threw a four-hitter with nine strikeouts to help the Eagles to the five-inning win over the Jagaurs.

Charlene Masterson was 2-for-4 with a double for Boulder City.

Maiya Richardson hit a solo home run for Desert Pines.

Tech 9, Virgin Valley 5 — At Mesquite, the Roadrunners took advantage of nine errors to top the Bulldogs.

Janella Fiso had two hits, including a double, for Virgin Valley.

Liberty 10, Valley 0 — At Liberty, Breanna Alvarez threw a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and three walks to lead the Patriots to the five-inning victory over the Vikings.

Kelsey Camat-Toki had two hits and five RBIs for Liberty, and Kylie Hefley and Ashleigh Rodriguez each added two hits for the Patriots.
