SOFTBALL: Miners rally to top Roadrunners

Klarissa Hernandez went 3-for-4, and Sunrise Mountain’s softball team scored four times in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday to pull out a 6-5 victory over visiting Tech.

Sara Kinsey’s bases-loaded fly ball to center field was dropped, allowing Andrea Garner to score the winning run for the Miners.

Avery Rayos went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Roadrunners, who led 5-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh.

Brittany Miller’s bunt single scored Arieonna Herrera from third to cut the Roadrunners’ lead to 5-3 before Zoey Ruiz came home on a dropped third strike to make the score 5-4. Miller scored the tying run on the play when Tech overthrew the pitcher.

After Monica Fears singled to put runners on first and third, Hernandez reached on a bunt single to load the bases and Kinsey followed with her pop fly that ended the game.

Coronado 4, Rolling Hills (Calif.) 2 — At Torrance, Calif., Jillian James was 1-for-2 with three RBIs as the Cougars topped Rolling Hills in six innings in the Torrance National Tournament.

Sarah Pinkston was 1-for-2 with an RBI, and winning pitcher Tatum Spangler went 1-for-2 with a run for Coronado, which erased a 2-0 deficit with a three-run third inning.

Foothill 5, Coronado 4 — At Torrance, Calif., Hannah Stevens scored the winning run on a bases-loaded error with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the Falcons by the Cougars in the Torrance National Tournament.

Jordan Corn was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBIs for Foothill.

James homered for Coronado.

Arbor View 9, Basic 3 — At Torrance, Calif., Breanne Henricksen went 4-for-5, and the Aggies used a six-run first inning to get by the Wolves in the Torrance National Tournament.

Lexi Edmunds was 1-for-3 with a double for Basic.

Centennial 6, Banning (Calif.) 5 — At Torrance, Calif., Sonja Lawrence went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to lead the Bulldogs past the Broncos in five innings in the Torrance National Tournament.

Angel Love went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Centennial.

Valley 17, Mojave 0 — At Mojave, winning pitcher Kristina Manthei was 4-for-5 with a home run, three doubles and seven RBIs as the Vikings routed the Rattlers in five innings.

Manthei spun a one-hitter and struck out nine.

Pacheco (Calif.) 1, Rancho 0 — At Fresno, Calif., the Panthers scored a run in the eighth inning to nip the Rams in the Washington Union Invitational.

Pacheco’s Gia Rodoni tossed a two-hitter and struck out 17.

Rancho’s Samantha Pochop faced eight batters in relief and struck out all eight.

Boulder City 18, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, winning pitcher Jordan Moorhead and Charlene Masterson each went 4-for-4 as the Eagles routed the Dragons in five innings.

Alyssa Ybarra went 3-for-5, and Bryanna Lopez was 2-for-4 with two doubles for Boulder City, which scored 10 runs in the second inning.

Western 21, Canyon Springs 5 — At Western, Jennessa Dunton was 4-for-4 with two doubles and five RBIs as the Warriors routed the Pioneers in five innings.

Alexis Maeoki was 2-for-2 with a home run and a triple for Western.

Eldorado 20, Bonanza 10 — At Eldorado, Jazmine Sorchini had four hits and three RBIs, and the Sundevils scored 10 runs in the first inning in a five-inning rout of the Bengals.

Heather Holman had three hits and three RBIs, and Kristie Thomas added two hits for Eldorado.

Chaparral 21, Desert Pines 6 — At Chaparral, Alex Montoya went 3-for-5 to lead the Cowboys by the Jaguars in five innings.

Losi Brown and Britney DeGraff combined on a two-hitter for Chaparral.

Mountain View 8, Faith Lutheran JV 6 — At Mountain View, Rose Adkins hit a tiebreaking, two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning, and the Saints edged the Crusaders in the Spring Slam.

Adkins finished 2-for-3, and Nia Van Kempen had a two-run single that tied the game at 6-6 in the fifth. Savannah Alley was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Mountain View, which turned three double plays.
