SOFTBALL: Miners take advantage of Chaparral miscues

Sunrise Mountain’s softball team took advantage of a missed tag on a grounder up the first base line and a misplayed ball at third base to score two runs with two outs in the sixth inning and held on for a 2-1 win at Chaparral on Tuesday.

Andrea Garner spun a seven-hitter and struck out seven for the Miners, who got a 2-for-3 effort from Shyloh Lucero.

Losi Brown allowed just five hits and struck out eight for the Cowboys. Brown and Alex Montoya each went 2-for-3 for Chaparral.

Cimarron-Memorial 14, Green Valley 6 — At Cimarron, Kailey Roldan went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and five RBIs, and Cierra Davis was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs to help the Spartans top the Gators.

Carmen Hasbrouck was 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Rosie Del Rosario went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Cimarron.

Jinger Meuir and Tara Hilton each went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Green Valley.

Liberty 10, Las Vegas 1 — At Liberty, Breanna Alvarez fired a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Patriots past the Wildcats.

Hayley Freestone was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Cali Christopher and Marisa Olmos each supplied two hits for Liberty, which scored five runs in the bottom of the third to break a 1-1 tie.

Palo Verde 11, Silverado 4 — At Silverado, Mackenzie McBride went 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs to help the Panthers top the Skyhawks.

Dejenae Gage was 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Makall Whetten was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Palo Verde.

Alessandra Ponce was 3-for-3 with three doubles for Silverado.

Shadow Ridge 14, Bishop Gorman 1 — At Gorman, Alisha Schultz tossed a six-inning five-hitter with six strikeouts as the Mustangs topped the Gaels.

Montgomery went 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI, and teammate Justin Garganese smacked a three-run home run for Shadow Ridge, which used six runs in the fourth to pull away.

Durango 12, Legacy 0 — At Legacy, Trinity Valentine fired a five-inning four-hitter and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs to power the Trailblazers past the Longhorns.

Mallory Lawson had two doubles and two RBIs, and Alia Armstrong went 3-for-3 with two runs scored for Durango.

Alyssa Sotelo went 2-for-2 for Legacy.

Valley 24, Canyon Springs 12 — At Valley, Monique Beaudry was 4-for-5 with a double, three runs and three RBIs as the Vikings rallied from a 12-4 second-inning deficit to down the Pioneers in five innings.

Jaeda Burnett was 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs, and winning pitcher Kristina Manthei was 2-for-2 with two runs for Valley. Manthei struck out 10 of the 11 batters she faced in relief.

Emilee Kaye was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Daisy Arnal went 2-for-3 with a run for Canyon Springs.

Moapa Valley 22, Del Sol 11 — At Del Sol, DaniElle Russo went 4-for-5 with a double and four RBIs, and Kinlee Marshall went 4-for-6 to help the Pirates down the Dragons in six innings.

Devony Cooper provided a double and four RBIs for Moapa Valley, which led 13-4 after three innings.

Jeanette Poulsen was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs, and Alina Maruffo went 3-for-5 with two RBIs for Del Sol.

Tech 11, Desert Pines 0 — At Rodeo Park, Avery Rayos had three hits, and Megan Thomas doubled and singled to help the Roadrunners top the Jaguars in five innings.

Gizele Cascos and Ashlee Carratelli combined on a two-hitter for Tech.

Boulder City 18, Virgin Valley 3 — At Mesquite, Micayla Gegen spun a five-inning two-hitter to lead the Eagles by the Bulldogs.

Charlene Masterson had two hits for Boulder City, which scored eight runs in the second inning to take command.

Mountain View 28, Lake Mead 5 — At Tuscany Park, Savannah Alley was 1-for-3 with a run and five RBIs as the Saints routed the Eagles in five innings.

Kayla Freund was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Lake Mead.

Pahranagat Valley 11-15, Tonopah 1-2 — At Alamo, Ashlyn Wadsworth tossed a five-inning five-hitter with four strikeouts and was 2-for-2 with with a three-run home run in the nightcap as the Panthers swept the Muckers.

Kaitlyn Davis tossed a two-hitter and hit a three-run home run for the Panthers in the opener.

Madison Harris was 3-for-6 with a home run, and Brook Higbee went 4-for-4 on the day for Pahranagat Valley.
