SOFTBALL: Quintero scores on passed ball, Bulldogs edge Cowboys

Xochitl Quintero scored the winning run on a passed ball with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning Wednesday as Virgin Valley’s softball team rallied for a 14-13 win over visiting Chaparral.

The Cowboys scored four runs in the top of the seventh to take a 13-12 lead, but Virgin Valley’s Madison Fielding led off the bottom of the seventh with a single. Quintero walked before Emma Barnum delivered an RBI single to plate Fielding. Quintero then scored the winning run.

Janella Fiso, Becca Bramlage and Kaycee Anderson each had an RBI double for Virgin Valley.

Vanessa Donham and Nayeli Rivas each had an RBI double for Chaparral.

Arbor View 7, Durango 2 — At Durango, winning pitcher Ashlyn Ames hit a two-run homer and a two-run double to lift the Aggies over the Trailblazers.

Ames threw four innings of scoreless relief for the Aggies, who scored twice in the sixth and four times in the seventh.

Kaitlyn O’Hearn had a solo home run for Durango.

Shadow Ridge 4, Spring Valley 0 — At Spring Valley, Kate Dennis had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs as the Mustangs shut down the Grizzlies.

Tana Feiner fired a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts for Shadow Ridge, which also got an RBI single from Joryan Brewer.

Palo Verde 4, Sierra Vista 0 — At Palo Verde, Haylee Lupinetti spun a two-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks to power the Panthers over the Mountain Lions.

Rachel Williams was 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI to lead Palo Verde.

Melissa Lacro and Lupinetti each went 1-for-2 for the Panthers.

Silverado 8, Las Vegas 0 — At Silverado, Madison Sisco went 2-for-3 with a home run and scored three runs to help the Skyhawks top the Wildcats.

Korina Pindel was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI, and winning pitcher Heaven Calhoun went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Silverado.

Calhoun tossed a four-hitter, walking three and striking out six.

Moapa Valley 13, Sunrise Mountain 6 — At Overton, Bailey Owens went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Kyla Shumway was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs as the Pirates turned back the Miners.

Linna Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a double for Moapa Valley, which led 8-0 after two innings.

Natalie Sharp was 3-for-4 for Sunrise Mountain.

Boulder City 12, Tech 2 — At Boulder City, Mikaela Brown was 3-for-3 with a triple, a double and two RBIs to help the Eagles rout the Roadrunners in six innings.

Nicole Schulz added two hits and four RBIs, and winning pitcher Charlene Masterson and Kaila Davis each had two hits for Boulder City.

Masterson tossed a six-hitter and struck out 11.

Valley 22, Canyon Springs 1 — At Valley, Kristina Manthei tossed a five-inning two-hitter with 10 strikeouts and one walk to lead the Vikings to an easy win over the Pioneers.

Shonda Williams doubled twice, scored three runs, and had five RBIs for Valley, which got two hits apiece from Monique Beaudry and Briana Joseph.

Mojave 20, Desert Pines 3 — At Mojave, Alejandra Victorio spun a five-inning four-hitter, and went 2-for-3 with a double to propel the Rattlers past the Jaguars.

Gabriela Reyes smacked a two-run homer to highlight a seven-run first inning for Mojave, which got a two-run double by Danette Daguiar to key a 10-run third inning.
