SOFTBALL: Sink leads Longhorns by Durango
Amanda Sink threw a three-hitter and hit the game-winning home run with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday as Legacy’s softball team edged visiting Durango, 3-2.
Sink struck out 15 and walked two.
Alyssa Sotelo was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Longhorns, who led 2-0 before the Trailblazers scored two runs on Kaitlyn O’Hearn’s fifth-inning double.
Palo Verde 15, Desert Oasis 10 — At Desert Oasis, Lauryn Barker was 4-for-5 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs, and the Panthers broke an 8-8 tie with seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to down the Diamondbacks.
Makall Whetten was 3-for-5 with four runs and two RBIs, and Cara Beatty went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Palo Verde.
Meagan Anders was 4-for-5 with two triples, a double, four runs and two RBIs for Desert Oasis. Elsy Guzman was 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs, and Izriah Hodson went 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI for the Diamondbacks.
Shadow Ridge 10, Centennial 4 — At Shadow Ridge, Shelbi Denman smacked a two-run home run as the Mustangs downed the Bulldogs.
Alisha Schultz, Kate Dennis and Kaitlyn Covington each supplied two hits for Shadow Ridge.
Makenzie Ball was 3-for-4 for Centennial.
Arbor View 15, Cimarron-Memorial 11 — At Arbor View, Lileya Kebos went 2-for-4 with a double and five RBIs as the Aggies stormed back from a 10-3 fourth-inning deficit to top the Spartans.
Terren Vinson was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Arbor View.
Diona Whitley, Rosie Del Rosario, Sumiko Tipton and Kaeley Roldan all went 2-for-4 for Cimarron.
Bishop Gorman 8, Bonanza 2 — At Gorman, Ashley Witucki doubled and singled, and the Gaels used a five-run second inning to top the Bengals.
Sierra Dias and Hannah Gondini each had two hits for Gorman.
Darian Pancirov and Samantha Stanfill combined to strike out 11 and allow just five hits for the Gaels.
Caitlyn Lloyd was 2-for-3 with two runs for Bonanza.
Liberty 7, Coronado 6 — At Liberty, Marisa Olmos’ RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Patriots over the Cougars.
McKenna Hefley was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, and Kylie Hefley added a double and an RBI for Liberty, which scored four runs in the fifth to erase a 6-2 deficit.
Tatum Spangler had a triple and two RBIs, and Taylor Okamura added an RBI double for Coronado.
Rancho 10, Basic 3 — At Rancho, Jahnae Davis-Houston went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to help the Rams top the Wolves.
Alisa Blevins was 2-for-3 for Rancho, and teammate Lily Gutierrez tossed a three-hitter.
Carlee Gettman went 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI for Basic.
Mojave 8, Western 7 — At Mojave, Jesika Smith smacked a bases loaded triple in the bottom of the seventh to cap a five-run seventh-inning rally that lifted the Rattlers over the Warriors.
Natalie Paredes supplied an RBI double for Mojave.
Jennessa Dunton hit a home run and drove in three runs, and Alexis Moeaki doubled twice for Western.
Pahrump Valley 3, Spring Valley 2 — At Pahrump, Leanne Kaiwi was 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the Trojans over the Grizzlies.
Lauren Koenig added two hits for Pahrump, which led 3-0 after three innings.
Winning pitcher Amaya Mendoza allowed one earned run on eight hits.
Madison Macove had two singles and a double for Spring Valley, which scored once in the fourth and once in the fifth, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Cheyenne 18, Clark 1 — At Clark, Madelyn Kennedy tossed a five-inning one-hitter and was 4-for-5 with two doubles and a triple to power the Desert Shields past the Chargers.
Victoria Rosales went 3-for-4 with a triple, and teammate Kylie Clark had two hits for Cheyenne.
Giselle Khabir had Clark’s hit.
Indian Springs 23, Calvary Chapel 7 — At West Flamingo Park, Kayla Noyes homered in the first inning and finished 3-for-5 in the Thunderbirds’ five-inning victory over the Lions.
Hailey Linfoot went 2-for-3 and Halle Jackson was 2-for-5 for Indian Springs, which scored eight runs in the second inning and six more in the fourth.
Hannah Neider drove in three runs for Calvary Chapel.
Pahranagat Valley 12, Moapa Valley 4 — At Alamo, Ashlyn Wadsworth tossed a five-hitter with seven strikeouts as the Panthers defeated the Pirates.
Madison Harris was 3-for-5 with an RBI for Pahranagat Valley, which got two RBIs apiece from Madalyn Taylor and Allyse Frehner.
Aria Messer had a two-run single for Moapa Valley.
Mountain View-Lincoln County postponed — At Panaca, the Saints and Lynx had their doubleheader snowed out. A makeup date was not announced.
