SOFTBALL: Yvette Sanchez, Rancho rally past Green Valley
Yvette Sanchez went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, and Sam Pochop pitched six innings of relief and drove in two runs to help Rancho’s softball team rally for an 11-7 win at Green Valley on Monday.
Gianna Carosone had two doubles for the Rams, who trailed 5-1 after two innings.
Cinthia Garcia was 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Green Valley. Jalen Jones doubled, and Katrina Ramos tripled for the Gators.
Coronado 10, Liberty 4 — At Liberty, Tatum Spangler went 2-for-4 with three RBIs to lead the Cougars past the Patriots.
Dylan Underwood tripled, and Sophia McCann doubled for Coronado, which scored four runs in the fourth to take control.
Tatum Spangler pitched 4⅔ innings in relief of Jillian James to pick up the win.
Breanna Alvarez went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs for Liberty.
Moapa Valley 8, Tech 2 — At Tech, Aria Messer hit a solo home run, and the Pirates scored four runs in the first inning en route to the victory over the Roadrunners.
Kessa Evans tripled, and winning pitcher Daesha Stastny allowed two earned runs for Moapa Valley, which led 6-2 after five innings.
Melissa Fuller tripled for Tech.
Bishop Gorman 11, Spring Valley 3 — At Gorman, Hannah Gondini scored four runs and went 4-for-4 with a triple in the Gaels’ rout of the Grizzlies.
Monique Passalacqua went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Gia Pergolini went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Reyna Martin and Brianna Spizzuco each doubled, and Darian Pancirov added a triple for the Gaels, who scored four runs in the sixth inning to put the game away.
Pancirov allowed three runs on four hits with seven strikeouts to pick up the win.
Marlena Adras doubled to lead the Grizzlies.
Chaparral 13, Virgin Valley 2 — At Mesquite, Losi Brown tossed a five-hitter with four strikeouts and drove in five runs at the plate to lead the Cowboys past the Bulldogs in five innings.
Alexis Montoya had two hits, and Tabitha Mabry had two RBIs for Chaparral, which led 11-0 after three innings.
Savannah Price had two hits for Virgin Valley.
Sierra Vista 16, Durango 0 — At Durango, Kalei Watkins struck out nine in a five-hitter and went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer and five RBIs in the Mountain Lions’ four-inning victory over the Trailblazers.
Jessica Schneider was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs, and Daelynn Hilton went 2-for-3 with a double for Sierra Vista, which led 6-0 after the first inning.
Raven Sargent was 2-for-2 to lead Durango.
Desert Oasis 17, Bonanza 5 — At Bonanza, Izriah Hodson went 4-for-5 with an inside-the-park home run and five RBIs to lead the Diamondbacks past the Bengals.
Meagan Anders went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer for Desert Oasis, which scored eight runs in the fourth inning.
Sara Riley and Evalynn Sandoval each had two RBIs to lead the Bengals.
Las Vegas 18, Silverado 6 — At Las Vegas, Skylar Gorrell tossed a five-hitter with seven strikeouts and went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs in the Wildcats’ five-inning victory over the Skyhawks.
Katilyn Horstdaniel was 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs, and Summer Horn added three hits for Las Vegas, which used a 12-run fourth inning to take control.
Dalyse Whiteside went 2-for-3 to lead Silverado.
Valley 27, Canyon Springs 13 — At Canyon Springs, Gabriella Morales went 3-for-6 with two triples and two RBIs to lead the Vikings past the Pioneers in five innings.
Brianna Gamboa went 2-for-6 with a triple and an RBI for Valley, which blew the game open with an 11-run fourth inning.
The Pioneers scored 13 runs despite recording only one hit.
Boulder City 21, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, winning pitcher Bailey Bennett-Jordan struck out seven in a two-hitter and went 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs to lead the Eagles to a three-inning victory over the Dragons.
Marleena Mills was a 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, three runs and two RBIs, and Summer Coyle went 4-for-4 with a double, two runs and an RBI for Boulder City, which scored 14 runs in the first inning and finished with 10 extra-base hits.
Jeanette Poulsen and Sierra Rivera each hit a single for Del Sol.
