SPRING JAMBOREE: Badayos, Diamondbacks move into bracket semifinals

Shonda Badayos tossed a four-hitter Friday to help Desert Oasis’ softball team to a 7-3 win over Garfield (Calif.) in a Bronze Bracket quarterfinal of the Spring Jamboree at Majestic Park.

Badayos struck out four.

Meagan Anders was 2-for-4, and Mikael Brown went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for the Diamondbacks, who will face Fernley in a Bronze semifinal at 9 a.m. Saturday. The Bronze Bracket final is set for 1 p.m.

Palo Verde 4, El Camino Real (Calif.) 3 — Haley Harrison belted a two-run home run during a three-run third inning that helped the Panthers nip the Conquistadors in a Gold Bracket first-round game.

Brooke Stover was 2-for-3 with a double, and Kiley Harrison was 2-for-4 with a double for Palo Verde.

Lucy Yang was 2-for-4 with a double for El Camino Real.

Centennial 18, Mingus (Ariz.) 1 — Angel Love was 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple and a double as the Bulldogs routed the Marauders in four innings in a Gold Bracket first-round game.

Savannah Horvath was 3-for-4 with two doubles, and Sonja Lawrence and Kara Simpson each doubled and singled for Centennial.

Jennifer Cerrone tossed a two-hitter for the Bulldogs.

Carson (Calif.) 11, Centennial 3 — Brianna Tautalafua slugged two home runs as the Colts routed the Bulldogs in six innings in a Gold quarterfinal.

Lacie Chakos was 2-for-3 with a double for Centennial, which scored twice in the top of the first, but trailed 9-2 after four innings.

Centennial (Calif.) 13, Coronado 6 — Aeleyah Mohara went 4-for-5 with a double to lead the Golden Hawks by the Cougars in a Gold Bracket first-round game.

Jaiden Johnson was 2-for-3 with a grand slam, and Danielle Amato was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and an RBI for Coronado.

Coronado 4, Mingus (Ariz.) 3 — Dylan Underwood’s triple in the top of the eighth inning plated Basia Query with the go-ahead run as the Cougars nipped the Marauders.

Jaiden Johnson was 2-for-3 with a double, and winning pitcher Jillian James was 2-for-3 for Coronado.

Centennial (Calif.) 7, Rancho 3 — Madison Aurin slugged two home runs to lead the Golden Hawks to a win over the Rams in a Gold Bracket quarterfinal.

McKinzi Vega was 3-for-4, and Megan Sloan went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Rancho.

Fallbrook (Calif.) 9, Liberty 3 — Hailey Drew went 3-for-4 to help the Warriors top the Patriots in a Gold Bracket quarterfinal.

Felicia Rivera was 2-for-3, and Ashleigh Rodriguez homered for Liberty.

Schurr (Calif.) 8, Green Valley 7 — Byanka Diosdado’s RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning plated the winning run as the Spartans outlasted the Gators in a Silver Bracket first-round game.

Green Valley scored a run in the top of the ninth as both teams began the inning under tiebreaker rules that placed runners at second and third.

The Gators had a runner thrown out trying to advance to third on a sacrifice fly that plated the go-ahead run, but Schurr responded with two runs in its half of the ninth.

Samantha Loving was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs, and Jinger Meuir was 3-for-5 with a double for Green Valley.

San Fernando (Calif.) 8, Green Valley 0 — Breanna Cabrera tossed a two-hitter and belted a home run to lead the Tigers past the Gators.

Durango 2, Marshall (Calif.) 1 — Kaitlyn O’Hearn was 3-for-4 with a double to help the Trailblazers nip the Barristers in a Silver Bracket first-round game.

Mallory Lawson was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Durango.

Beckman (Calif.) 12, Durango 0 — Emma Willenborg was 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and two RBIs as the Patriots downed the Trailblazers in five innings in a Silver Bracket quarterfinal.

Birmingham (Calif.) 4, Durango 1 — The Patriots used a three-run third inning to top the Trailblazers.

Cheyanne Haas went 2-for-3, and Mallory Lawson was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Durango.

Garfield (Calif.) 6, Basic 1 — Amber Helguera tossed a four-hitter to guide the Bulldogs by the Wolves in a Bronze Bracket first-round game.

Paige Blake was 2-for-4 and scored Basic’s run.

Basic 9, Harbor Teacher Prep (Calif.) 6 — Bailey Cunanan was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Wolves by the Monarchs.

Teuila Sheehan and Carlie Gettman each went 2-for-3 for Basic.

Lauryn Garcia was 2-for-3 for Harbor.

Port of Los Angeles (Calif.) 10, Cheyenne 1 — Annaliese DeLaRoca homered and doubled to lead the Polar Bears by the Desert Shields in six innings in a Bronze Bracket first-round game.

Italy Mora doubled and scored Cheyenne’s run.

Cheyenne 17, Pahrump Valley 6 — Brittany Leeds went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs and four RBIs as the Desert Shields routed the Trojans in five innings.

Kylie Clark was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Destiny Gain was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Cheyenne.

Lauren Koenig was 3-for-3 with a double for Pahrump.

Port of Los Angeles (Calif.) 7, Cimarron-Memorial 3 — Allison Bayer had a home run to lead the Polar Bears by the Spartans in a Bronze Bracket quarterfinal.

Cimarron’s Sarah Murphy and Alexa Snyder each hit a home run.

Cimarron-Memorial 14, Bell (Calif.) 4 — The Spartans scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game on the mercy rule and down the Eagles.

Murphy’s triple highlighted Cimarron’s 11-hit attack.

Bell (Calif.) 7, Pahrump Valley 5 — The Eagles scored four runs in the top of the fourth after trailing 3-2 to down the Trojans.

Pahrump’s Deliah Polnau went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs.

Lincoln County 3, Bell (Calif.) 1 — Aspen Wilkin and Chelsea Lloyd combined for a four-hitter to lead the Lynx past the Eagles in a Bronze Bracket quarterfinal.

Wilkin gave up one run in six innings before Lloyd pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the save.

Kaylee Teel was 2-for-3 with a double, and Tanji Tibbitts went 2-for-3 for Lincoln County, which scored all of its runs in the fourth inning.
