BOYS SWIMMING: Trio helps Palo Verde top Legacy
Logan Houck, David Miller and Dylan Sweikert each won one individual event and swam on two victorious relay teams Saturday to help Palo Verde’s boys swimming team to a 174-120 win over Legacy at Pavilion.
Houck won the 50-yard freestyle in 23.84 seconds. Miller took the 100 freestyle in 52.34. Sweikert captured the 500 freestyle in 5:01.03. The three each swam a leg on the Panthers’ winning 200 freestyle (1:33.63) and 400 freestyle (3:27.56) relay teams.
The Longhorns’ Isaiah Magsino won the 100 backstroke (55.72) and the 100 butterfly (55.75), and teammate Tama Tuitama took the 200 individual medley (2:05.09) and the 100 breaststroke (1:01.67).
Arbor View 192, Centennial 93 — At Pavilion, Michael Jones won the 200 individual medley in 2:32.94 and the 500 freestyle in 5:59.81 to help the Aggies down the Bulldogs.
Centennial’s Carter Grimes won the 100 backstroke in 53.82 and the 200 freestyle in 1:50.
Las Vegas 171, Canyon Springs 59 — At Pavilion, Austin Samia won two individual events to help the Wildcats top the Pioneers.
Samia took the 100 butterfly in 1:05.79 and the 200 individual medley in 2:25.41.
Canyon Springs’ Dakota Read won the 200 freestyle in 2:18.44 and the 500 freestyle in 6:40.75, and teammate Jacob Rendon captured the 100 freestyle in 51.79 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.65.
Durango 172, Cimarron-Memorial 51 — At Pavilion, Aldo Paredes won two individual events as the Trailblazers swam by the Spartans.
Paredes finished first in the 200 freestyle (2:18.12) and the 100 breaststroke (1:19.47).
Coronado 182, Valley 86 — At Multi-Generational, Jake Chir and Jonathan Bright-Sims each won two individual events to help the Cougars top the Vikings.
Chir won the 50 freestyle in 22.18 and the 100 breaststroke in 59.2. Bright-Sims took the 200 individual medley in 2:12.99 and the 500 freestyle in 5:28.56.
Basic 180, Eldorado 85 — At Multi-Generational, Liam Wetzel won the 100 butterfly in 56.55 and the 100 backstroke in 59.02 to help the Wolves down the Sundevils.
Eldorado’s Troy Sirat won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.4 and the 100 freestyle in 58.14.
Boulder City 133, Virgin Valley 126 — At Multi-Generational, Braden Klouse and Sam Sauerbrei each captured two individual events to help the Eagles edge the Bulldogs.
Klouse won the 100 freestyle in 54.81 and the 200 freestyle in 1:59.87. Sauerbrei took the 200 individual medley in 2:04.53 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.89.
Foothill 197½, Liberty 87½ — At Multi-Generational, Kaden Jesperson won two individual events as the Falcons downed the Patriots.
Jesperson took the 50 freestyle in 23.84 and the 100 freestyle in 51.34.
Liberty was a 123-101 winner over Rancho.
Green Valley 168½, Silverado 93½ — At Multi-Generational, Michael Velazquez won two individual events to help the Gators top the Skyhawks.
Velazquez won the 50 freestyle in 22.15 and the 100 butterfly in 54.71.
Tech 118½, Desert Pines 88½ — At Multi-Generational, Durand Farr won the 50 freestyle in 29.16 and the 200 individual medley in 2:49.47 to help the Roadrunners top the Jaguars.
Desert Pines’ Andres Lozano took the 100 butterfly in 1:07.82 and the 100 backstroke in 1:12.9.
Del Sol 124, Moapa Valley 53 — At Multi-Generational, Stuart Hall won two events to lead the Dragons by the Pirates.
Hall took the 100 backstroke in 1:03.95 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.94.
Sunrise Mountain 160, Chaparral 48 — At Multi-Generational, Thomas Menter and Bryan Rodriguez each won two individual events to help the Miners down the Cowboys.
Menter won the 200 individual medley in 2:24.96 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.73. Rodriguez claimed the 100 backstroke in 1:08.35 and the 100 freestyle in 54.88.
