BOYS TENNIS: Doubles teams help Bengals edge Diamondbacks
The doubles teams of Jacob Mabey and Andy Stephenson, and James Paluzzi and Justin Michala each went 3-0 on Thursday as Bonanza’s boys tennis team posted a 10-9 win over visiting Desert Oasis.
The teams split their 18 regulation sets, but the Bengals won four of the six tiebreakers to earn the victory.
Bryce Tacker and Ben Gajardo each went 3-0 in singles for the Diamondbacks.
Bishop Gorman 11, Centennial 7 — At Centennial, Dylan Leavitt went 3-0 in singles to help the Gaels top the Bulldogs.
Sam Sholeff was 2-1 in singles, and Jalen Paulos and Joe Connors went 2-1 in doubles for Gorman.
Centennial’s Parker McDonough and Ricky Koplow went 3-0 in doubles, and teammates Dallan Johnson and Chet Durkin were 2-1 in doubles.
Faith Lutheran 11, The Meadows 7 — At Darling Tennis Center, the doubles teams of Mitch Taylor and Matt Shuirman, and Ryan Warner and Brandon Brighi each went 3-0 to lead the Crusaders by the Mustangs.
Jack Stevens was 2-1 in singles for Faith Lutheran.
Foothill 12, Basic 6 — At Foothill, Tyler Van Stone and Bligh Madris each went 3-0 in singles to lead the Falcons past the Wolves.
Alfredo Scermino and Tanner Roundy were 3-0 in doubles for Basic.
Tech 12, Desert Pines 6 — At Desert Pines, Christian Valle was 3-0 in singles to lead the Roadrunners by the Jaguars.
Morgan Spenner went 2-1 in singles for the Jaguars.
Moapa Valley 13, Chaparral 5 — At Overton, Riley Longman and Tanner Goodrich were 3-0 in doubles to help the Pirates down the Cowboys.
Koby Frei and Ethan Seely were 2-0 in doubles for Moapa Valley.
Nick Hansen went 2-1 in singles for Chaparral.
Cimarron-Memorial 10, Legacy 8 — At Cimarron, the Spartans edged the Longhorns.
Virgin Valley 12, Boulder City 0 — At Mesquite, the Bulldogs won by forfeit.
Clark 12, Cheyenne 0 — At Cheyenne, the Chargers won by forfeit.
Mojave at Western — At Western, the Rattlers and Warriors both forfeited the match as neither team had the requisite six players.
