BOYS TENNIS: Tiebreaker lifts Pirates past rival Bulldogs
Koby Frei and Ethan Seely went 3-0 in doubles Tuesday to help Moapa Valley’s boys tennis team to a 10-9 victory over Virgin Valley in Overton.
The teams split their 18 regulation sets before each team won three of six tiebreaker games. The Pirates outscored the Bulldogs 37-34 in the six games to earn the win.
Logan Call and Jason Zerkle were 2-0 in doubles for Moapa Valley.
Nathan Hughes and Jacob Mikkelsen each went 3-0 in singles for Virgin Valley.
Basic 10, Del Sol 8 — At Del Sol, Thomas Romero was 3-0 in singles, and Alfredo Scermino and Tanner Roundy went 3-0 in doubles as the Wolves edged the Dragons.
Danny Miller and La’akea Cabanas each went 2-1 in singles for Del Sol.
Arbor View 10, Sierra Vista 8 — At Sierra Vista, the doubles teams of Garrett DeMille and Nevin Ly, and Dustin Leavitt and Travis Norland each went 3-0 as the Aggies nipped the Mountain Lions.
Mark Strauska and Kayvaan Adrangi each went 3-0 in singles for Sierra Vista.
Shadow Ridge 11, Durango 7 — At Shadow Ridge, Timothy Payne and Jonathan Reaves were 3-0 in doubles as the Mustangs held off the Trailblazers.
Jonathon Nhan was 3-0 in singles for Durango.
Liberty 11, Foothill 7 — At Foothill, Dylan Ihmels was 3-0 in singles to help the Patriots beat the Falcons.
Chris Haskins and Joakim Kahn were 3-0 in doubles for Liberty.
Percival Luz went 2-0 in singles for Foothill.
Green Valley 11, Las Vegas 7 — At Las Vegas, Mackay Boman was 3-0 in singles to help the Gators beat the Wildcats.
Valley 14, Rancho 4 — At Rancho, David Delaney went 3-0 in singles to lead the Vikings over the Rams.
Marty Heavey and Alex Gustilo were 3-0 in doubles for Valley.
Palo Verde 14, Spring Valley 4 — At Palo Verde, Zack Surmacz was 3-0 in singles, and teammate Rhett Bossung finished 2-0 in singles as the Panthers routed the Grizzlies.
Alex Tasaka and Eric Clark were 2-1 in doubles for Spring Valley.
Coronado 17, Eldorado 1 — At Coronado, Kyle Harris and Joshua Egbert were 3-0 in doubles as the Cougars routed the Sundevils.
Aaron Egbert and Michael Boyd each went 2-0 in singles for Coronado.
Desert Pines 11, Sunrise Mountain 6 — At Desert Pines, Juan Higuera was 1-0 in singles as the Jaguars beat the Miners.
Chaparral 17, Boulder City 1 — At Boulder City, the Cowboys routed the Eagles.
Faith Lutheran 12, Western 0 — At Darling Tennis Center, the Crusaders won by forfeit.
Silverado 12, Canyon Springs 0 — At Canyon Springs, the Skyhawks won by forfeit.
