ROUNDUP: Gorman boys join Bonanza, Clark in tie for top of Southwest
Kyle Del Rosario and Cody Miller each went 2-0 in singles Thursday to help Bishop Gorman’s boys tennis team finish in a three-way tie with Bonanza and Clark for first place atop the Southwest League with a 15-3 win over visiting Virgin Valley.
The Gaels, Clark and Bonanza each finished 7-1 in league play.
Dustin Witherby and Chris Nouis finished 2-0 in doubles for Gorman, and Adam Andrewjeski was 2-1 in singles.
Clark 15, Sierra Vista 3 — At Clark, Stephen Lim and Joseph Maloof went 3-0 in doubles play to lead the Chargers over the Mountain Lions.
Clark’s doubles teams of Jonathan Ou and Andrew Bathau, and Joseph Gee and Bobby Ou each went 2-0.
Desert Oasis 13, Spring Valley 5 — At Desert Oasis, James Dixon and Garrison Lopez-Quizon both went 2-1 in singles to help the Diamondbacks beat the Grizzlies.
Desert Oasis’ Alex Roncal and Max Goldman, and Stormie Andrews and Jonathan Scroggins, went 2-0 in doubles.
Ishmael Gibson went 3-0 in singles to lead Spring Valley.
Palo Verde 17, Cheyenne 1 — At Cheyenne, Christian Clark and Jeremy Mann went 2-0 in doubles as Palo Verde rolled past the Desert Shields and finished 9-0 in the Northwest League.
Faith Lutheran 11, Legacy 7— At Legacy, the doubles team of Paul Marquin and TJ Weiten went 2-0 to lead Faith Lutheran past Legacy.
Jake Benowitz went 2-0 in singles for the Crusaders.
Kevin Noorda and Keith Noorda went 3-0 in doubles for Legacy.
The Meadows 12, Arbor View 6 — At Arbor View, Max Novak and Evan Roth each went 3-0 in singles play to lead the Mustangs over the Aggies.
Quinn Legere and Nick Lester went 2-0 in doubles and John Lester went 2-1 in singles for Arbor View.
Centennial 18, Shadow Ridge 0 — At Centennial, Stephen Reilley and Spencer Felton went 2-0 in doubles to help the Bulldogs rout the Mustangs.
Travis Beck and Greg Madsen each went 2-0 in singles for Centennial.
Desert Pines 11, Moapa Valley 7 — At Overton, Roberto Caton and Dan Aguilar went 3-0 in doubles to lead the Jaguars over the Pirates.
Zach Kirkwood and Joe Guerera also went 3-0 in doubles, and Josh Alaniz went 2-1 in singles play for Desert Pines.
Camden Stratton went 3-0 in singles and Ryan Bessey finished 2-1 in singles for Moapa Valley.
Eldorado 14, Rancho 4 — At Eldorado, Alan Guererro and T.J. Swain went 3-0 in singles to lead the Sundevils over the Rams.
The doubles teams of Dalton Carpenello and Adam Gallegos, and Isaiah Hernandez and Joey Barnhurst went 3-0 for Eldorado, which finished 8-0 in the Northeast League.
Las Vegas 14, Valley 4— At Valley, Bryadon Pikyavit went 3-0 in singles to lead Las Vegas past the Vikings.
The Wildcats’ doubles teams of Luke Hanson and Tyler Crawford, and Zack Blanco and Aaron Walker each finished 3-0.
Valley’s Mitchell Diesko was 2-1 in singles.
Durango 12, Western 0 — At Western, Durango won by forfeit.
Canyon Springs 12, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Canyon Springs, the host Pioneers won by forfeit.
