GIRLS TENNIS: Skyhawks sweep singles, win tiebreaker to nip Foothill

Tiffany Theophil, Megan Lopez and Criszelle Castro each went 3-0 in singles, and Silverado’s girls tennis team won a close tiebreaker to edge visiting Foothill 10-9 in a Sunrise Region quarterfinal Tuesday.

After the teams split their 18 regulation sets, each team won three of six tiebreakers. The Skyhawks (7-3) outscored Foothill 30-27 in the six tiebreakers and advanced to face the winner of Wednesday’s Las Vegas-Green Valley match.

The doubles teams of Emily Campbell and Caitlyn Stevenson, Abby Wilson and Laini George, and Alyssa Miele and Sarah Penksa each went 3-0 for Foothill (7-6).

SUNSET REGION

Palo Verde 16, Arbor View 2 — At Palo Verde, Chloe Henderson and Kristen Newell each went 2-0 in singles to help the Panthers oust the Aggies.

Caroline Ramous and Isabella Shelton were 2-0 in doubles for Palo Verde (10-0), which will host either Shadow Ridge or Centennial in a semifinal Thursday.

Kahlea Kimoto was 2-1 in singles for Arbor View (3-8).

The remaining Sunrise, Sunset and all of the Division I-A girls quarterfinals are scheduled for Wednesday.
